Has anyone else had issues with their Anti Roll Bar? Car in for a service yesterday and
my ARB was Snapped, also wishbone bushes has popped out. And that with me avoiding potholes aas much as possible.

Very odd, and not a cheap service.

WHAT!!!
iiiiiyyyyaaa

Is that the rear aftermarket ARB or front ARB?
Where has this snapped?
You getting the front one uprated to the Golf MK4 R32 23mm one?
It's only £100 for the whole kit and its a good upgrade.

Thanks, front one, it was snapped at the support, nightmare!! was considering a council claim but when i looked at it they would just laugh i think.

Got the r32 one fitted yesterday as Star had one in stock,

what a difference! Not sure if its just the fact i had been driving about with a broken one, or because its stiffer.

I had the S3 brace on my old car, might think about that one. Is the rear one not any good?

Jim was in a fairly good mood, although i have had a fair amount of business to him, not been up in a while. Could just have been because he is awaiting his new car. :)

There isn't an ARB fitted as standard, it's a torsion beam in the rear axle
get a 28mm neuspeed rear ARB

Cool, a later mod, TIP 1st. I had the Upper strut brace on my old leon, shame i sold it as i could have used it. :(

hey mate i have the same issue, crashed into a crater on helen street (just by the govan police station) and my arb + strut brace is messed up. iv put a claim through for the council and they better reimburse me for it lol...

im thinking of the R32 arb as well, does it make a good difference over the standard arb?

Now that's bad, well to give you hope if you have picture evidence the councils will usually pay out ok. I smashed my sump on my old cupra on a hump in the tarmac under the kingston bridge at argyle st that shouldn't have been there. They settled within a month. Full liability. Lol

Standard is 23mm and R32 is 25 if i remeber correctly. Id be intrested to see how much the R32 arb is.

Very interesting. I'm keen to sort the handling of the LCR before any performance mods, so ARBs and braces appear to be the order of the day from what I'm reading. I'm sure they seem such simple things to those of you who know cars, but I don't really, so it's all a bit baffling

Sorry to hear about the breakage BTW

Hey, I'm just sortin out the handling on my new LCR. Had one for 3 years before tho so i'm kinda clued up on it all. Here's my plans..

Firstly sort out the engine movement.. The engine and gearbox etc. are held together with mounts which absorb the vibrations of the engine. These 3 mounts are the dogbone, engine and transmission mounts and can be uprated to a stiffer rubber possibly giving slightly more cabin vibration in cases but well worth it. I've just got hold of an INA track density DBM and INA street density engine/transmission mounts - these are stiff rubber but not poly so shud be nice and smooth but much more rigid..this stops wheel hop.

Next is adding strut braces which sit fairly high up in the car to hold the 'body' together. I've got an audi S3 front strut brace and a Hughes engineering custo
rear brace.. This helps stop the bodywork flexing.

Then you've got anti-roll bars, these sit down near the wheels and stiffen up the chasis.. These basically distribute the weight better across the wheels for fast corners..I'm going for the R32 23mm front ARB and neuspeed 25mm rear.

Finally there's the springs and shocks which you can upgrade for various reasons - looks, ride, handling. Personally I'm going all out and getting variant 3 coilovers in 6 months or so for £1000!

This is not nessersarily the correct way to do things..merely what I think will work for me. There's pages and pages of info, products and arguments for and against every setup, u just have to imagine what's going to work for you!

Hope this helps! :p Oh and the most important mod..some decent tyres! Eagle F1 assy's are awesome!

The OEM LCR front ARB is 18/19mm, the LC OEM bar is 23mm (but acting in a different way due to different front end set up). The MK4 Golf R32 ARB's come in 21 and 23mm

That set up will do the trick. Personally as I don't have the rear strutt brace and have very good handling I'd leave it out, but would also be interested to see how the handling feels with it fitted.
Also when your buying KWV3's make sure you specify the INOX line. There is another range that doesn't have the stainless steel outer body to the shocks, these are cheaper but defy the logic of going for the KW range in the first place.
Looking forward to hearing what you think of that set up.
I feckin love mine:)

Russ, thank you for that. I understand much more what I need to do now. Hadn't realised that the "dog bone" that I keep hearing about was an engine mount.

Thanks for the lesson:clap:

Ah thanks for the tip on the KWV3s willie! Yea I heard very good things bout the rear strut so went for it..I'm going to have the 25mm rear arb on the hardest setting imstead of a 28mm to try and even out the rear. Very excited tho!!

Also with the shocks these don't come set up from the factory.
you will need to set these before getting them fitted.
I've been running these as per KW recommendations since these have been on. I have also doen 3 track days.
The settings are a pretty good starting place.
If you struggle to find these I can find the link for you
