how can you locate the whistle to the DV ?

The only difference on my car is the dump noise. The turbo whistle is the same in both configurations.

NO the whistle is from the DV 100%, only way i can explain it is the vacuum from the manifold pressure doubled up with the boost acting on the bottom of the piston has enough pressure to overcome the spring, and due the the turbo still being spooled a constant slight boost whistle can be heard,

its the same noise as the chirp but as a constant slight whistle,

windows up, radio off, stereo off and around 60-70 float your accelerator very slightly onn and off you'll be able to purposely make it drop boost, causing a slight whistle

ive heard that when running these backwards, they can become prone to opening to early? like when your driving along, they can open and dump without backing off the accelerator, like they are too sensitive? anyone noticed that before?

when mine was reversed mine came on too early, and it felt like it was holding back....that was when i was travelling to AmD for a RR day....needless to say my results were poor on the RR...so i changed it back the same day

so is this safe to do. someone on here also stated that they have more boost!


safe yes, even Forge say so :)

The results appear to vary though. My car, on AMD's rollers, hit its best figures yet a couple of months ago ;)

Why would you run it the other way round, other than it to make a different noise? :blink:

i found my dv opened early either way round until i did the n249 bypass, to be fair i haven't tried it in reverse since the bypass but it dumps a lot better than before and it sounds better too.

As for it being in reverse it began to do my head in after a while so i changed it back. Its just personal preference i guess.

Excatly what I said in the other thread, surely it functions better in Reverse due to how it is designed :)

If you look at any conventional diverter valve/ blow off valve the boost is acting on the base of the piston as in the same way as a reversed diverter valve, the only reason i can see why VW reversed it to have boost acting on the side of the piston was for noise and having no chance of the valve opening, personally with the right tension spring and fitted in reverse i would have thought it would cycle quicker,


Im soon to RR just after christmas with a remap, i'll ask to see if we can do two runs, one in reverse and one standard, to see if it shows any overall difference

007p backwards???

One of my mates runs his 007p in the wrong direction compared with the factory set up on his mk4 golf gti to get a better 'dump' sound. Is there any faults that can arise if you do this? Definatley thinking about running mine that way when the cupra comes!

gud stuff. just what i want. loud enough to here over the non resonated blueflame cat back im planning on purchasing, cant be having a measly little dump!:D

You can also fit a cone filter, or smooth the standard airbox, and drill some holes in the bottom section of the airbox for increased dv noise too ;)
