Arb or Tyres

Hi Guys, im in abit of a pickle. Got some dosh to change these rubbish tyres o' mine. Their not to bad in the dry, tad understeer, but I have to battle quite abit in the wet and get no traction whatsoever. Theres plenty of tread left, just not much grip. So I Set my mind on getting the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas and at £85 a corner, and the ratings theyve been getting, thought I cant go far wrong. Then thought about the neuspeed rear arb. Iv been trudging through threads on here about tyres and arbs, I know I need both, alright, want both, aswell as all the other stuff on my list, but whch one first?!?!?!?

i do think good quality tyres are so often over looked when people start modding the suspension, i bought the leon with pure pants sport ones on it, changed them too toyo proxes and its like driving a new car

No point having a well sorted car on sh1t tyres. Get the tyres mentioned above and you will be a happy man!!

very true.....this 1300 kilo of machinery is useless without decent tyres....decent tyres will save your life, by keeping you out of hedges.

do you think athletes wear crappy trainers?, nope they dont...

never understood why owners put crap tyres on their cars then moan when the car aquaplanes or something.....the tyres you mentioned above are great, but im running continental sport contact 3 tyres at the moment, cost me a fortune but they are so so grippy

Quite appropriate that to be honest mate, im partial to abit of middle distance. Lol. Cheers guys tyres it is! There are so many good tyres on the market. It took me a week to decide on the Vredesteins. Looked at falkens, toyos, hancooks, michelin, and the rest. Thanks again fellas!

Yeh, mainly price. There was just so many to choose from. The Vreds have had excellent reviews, as do alot of others iv read up on, just thought id try these for myself. Its not somethin iv had to buy in the past. For the driving i do and mileage, which is below average, i thought id give the vreds a whirl. What would you suggest willie?

vreds are awesome - I've used these on both track and road and they are by far the best tyre I've tried!

Tyres 110% MUST come first. suspension is there to help give the tyre the biggest contact patch on the road. What is the point in having a nice suspension setup if the tyre can put the power down.

Tyres are over looked by so many people but they are probably the most inportant aspect of a car.

I have vreds on the back and Eagle F1 Assyemetrics on the front. Evo mag gave the Assymetric the No.1 for best performance tyre and they gave the vreds No.2 so they are very good tyres.

I've alway stuck with what the magazines have said are best TBH.
It's something that I won't compromise on in price or quality.
so initially my LCR came with Pirelli P Zeros which were not so good, I changed these for GYE GSD3's then onto GYE F1 Asymmetrics with Michelin Pilot Alpin 2's for winter.
On my Audi I bought it with Michelin PS's, I have just bought Vredstein Wintrac extreme's as the Michelin PA3's were £250 each, feck that!!
When the winter tyres come off then GYE F1 Asymmetrics will be fitted for the summer.

Wll F1 teams are anal about tyres and test all kinds and makes, and it can be the diffrence between winning and loosing. Forget brakes etc, tyres are the most important thing on the car - FACT. They have an impact on so many factors of the vehicle its untrue, brakes dont cause a blowout at 70 which on a busy motorway could prove fatal. If your brakes failed on the motorway you would still have some braking and would be able to pull over safely, if your tyre went i dont think you could. A tyre i will reccomend is the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO, ace tyre for the money and cant be beaten in its price range, above that you got stuff like the goodyears etc, then above that your into michelin PE2 which are epic tyres, but cost alot of money and wear quite fast. Also maintain tyre pressures weekly as it will have a big impact on fuel consumption and tyre life. Also have the wheel alignment checked regluar as un eaven tyre wear doesnt help much. Once you got decent tyres then start to change suspension components, but dont scrimp on them either as you wont get the best out of the tyre, idea of uprated suspension is to lower the centre of gravity and keep the tyre in contact with the road at all times, improving grip and handeling. Decent spring & shocker combo, or decent coilovers. Decent ARB's and well maintained suspension making sure ball joints or bushes are not worn to excess you will have a better handeling car and a safer one.

Put it this way matey, its not a lecture its advice. My car has 3 X Nankangs on and understeer was so bad an unexperienced driver would have crashed it, which i think the previous owner did.

Another thing, a worn brake pad wont get you points, worn tyre is 3 points and upto 2000 quid fine. Ive come across all diffrent makes before today, i allways say change them in axels.

So... Orderd from camskill monday around 3, they arrived yesterday at 12. Unbelievable! I couldnt get over it! So went to fit them last night, local reputable fitters, couldnt get them on! Size is 225 40 18. I know iv got that right but two hours i was there with four big guys jumpin on this dinky tyre machine. Anyone else had this problem or have they got the worst tyre machine in the world?

Ha, amateurs, they can be hard to fit but really need a machine with an assist arm to push the tyre down into the well. Also there re-enforced side walls so dont have much flex in them, if they dont have decent tyre machine take it else where before they damage your rim as its easily done.
