sounds great Rob.
It takes alot of balls to put so much cash into this and do it yourself.
I imagine your bum was a bit clenched the first time you turned the key, lol.

I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be, I do have faith in my abilities, but there is always that element of doubt so I was fairly apprehensive ... but well chuffed when it fired up and is now running perfect.

Yep, I'll change the oil and filter this weekend then it's time to put 500 miles on it before the next change.

As well as running a magnetic sump plug, I decided to get a FilterMag as well to catch any metal particles floating around from the rebuild.

I tried clamping it onto a filter - wow, it is VERY strong!

I'll put it on tomorrow when changing the oil and filter for the next 500 mile stint. You can find out more about the FilterMag or buy one from here:

Fair play Rob your always one step ahead of the rest of us with new products and ideas. :)
You may be pleasantly surprised with the potential gains from porting the intake on your head and the new JBS manifold (combined 10 bhp could be available). i look forward to reading some logs and future RR runs.

Anyway, my car is down on all four wheels off the axle stands, everything is finished, just the front bumper to go on. I've filled up with coolant but run out! So can't start it up until I get more.

Engine bay at close of play today:

Fill it up with oil and some more coolant and it's ready to start ... yikes! Just hope I've done everything right otherwise it will be a very short and expensive startup! :D

That is a thing of beauty mate, it truly is. Very well done!

Thanks for all the great comments - much appreciated! :D

Looks like the PTFE tape on the threads has fixed the oil leak on the remote oil filter housing, I put some more miles on it this morning so it's 20 miles and time to change the oil and filter.

Well first oil and filter change is done, I did see some metal particles in the oil and on the magnetic sump plug, but not a huge amount. I got roughly 60 miles done in the past 2 days so on the way now, next oil and filter change at 500 miles. The car is not burning oil any more which is good news, oil level has stayed the same, coolant level is constant too - so all is well.

The Apexi is good but very complicated to try and set up correctly - overly complicated to me. I'm thinking of replacing it with the Gizzmo MS-IBC controller, it's had great reviews and is very easy to set up.

Yep i agree Apexi AVC-R's are bloody hard to setup correctly although are blinding when setup correctly. Used to run one in my 200sx along with with a piggy back Apexi SAFC 2 fuel controller and ran brilliantly together eventully but took ages to setup correctly.

Don't know the Gizzmo MS-IBC but given a lot of paitence think the Apexi is worth it. How long you been running the Apexi previosuly for Rob??
