Hi All got a few questions for you MK2 Owners

Im looking at getting rid of my MK4 ibiza soon as i want a change , Originally had by Heart set on a MK1 LCR but i test drove a MK2 Leon Cupra yesterday and i was blown away :D

but..... insurance have said NO , 20 yr old , 3 years NCB , No claims, No Points  but will insure me on a MK1 LCR

Anyway

Im a Senior member on TDIsport.com so i figured might aswell stick with a TDI so naturally decided MK2 Leon TDI CR 170, My questions are

How tuneable are the new Common Rail engines? im only used to dealing with PD ones, im talking along the lines Of Free Flowing exhaust system , Better Filters and Then a Custom Remap and also How much we talking to remove this DPF system

So what have people done to There CR TDI's?

The CR 170 is pretty much as tuneable as the Pump Duse system, a standard remap will get you around 205Bhp and 400NM torque, then there are the usual air filter and exhaust replacments available. Although the FL FR TDi one is from the Gilf GTD and tuned to sound a bit more roarty.

There is a thread on here about DPF removal from only last week and was said to be a positive improvemnt and can be done by a specialist tuner. It is a quick motor out of the bag and with a bit of tunning a pretty rapid car with the extra torque offsetting to a point the shortage of power compared to a MK 2 LC

DPF removal and remap is around £800. Apparently it transforms the car though.

Although the FL FR TDi one is from the Golf GTD and tuned to sound a bit more roarty.

I thought the one i demo'd sounded pretty meaty for a diesel but i didnt know it was the same lump as the Golf GTD... mind you... its like a big part swapping party at VAG so why not !

Ive been and Test drove it today

Obviously it will feel amazing compared to my 100bhp 1.4TDI , but..... i prefered the TDI CR 170BHP to the Petrol Cupra

obviously i prefer the looks of the cupra but actual driving style the TDI was nicer to drive , maybe its because im used to a TDI

ive had a PD version and got a CR version now.

There are several companies outthere doing remaps. they will go up to about 200bhp, but watch for the torque these figures differ quite a bit.

You can change the air filter as well, this helps a little.

But if you get rid of the DPF then a remap will be better. Miltek do a bypass and full system which is supposed to be good.

Ive had both of mine re-mapped by the same company and the CR seems better than the PD version

Hope this helps

If i had it id get the Exhaust First with DPF Removal , Airfilter and then get a custom map

Cupra and FR use the same bodykit the cupra has some extra cutouts and a black insert on the front bumper were the number plate goes and different shape exhaust on the rear. The only other difference is the wheels although you can spec black orion's that are from the pre fl Cupra!! Oh and obvioulsy different badges and balck instead of silver mirrros unless you spec black orions and the mirrors are also black same as the Cupra.

That's changed from Build Week 45 actually, FRs will come out of the factory on silver mirrors regardless of the alloy option...

(And Cupras stay black even with the white alloys.) :)

That's probably to help ease production and reduce £££££ a shame as made sense to have matching cuff's and collar's
