Hey guys

Went down to Performance Torque today to have stage 1 done, all fine and dandy but will mentioned that my MAF wasn't running right

He said when he unplugged it, it ran more power but lacked the torque. Ran VAG com on it and said it was running less than what the MAF should be, if thats right

You can feel it when driving that the boost is there but bit of a flat spot with torque.

But this was a MAF i replaced in May from SEAT, so a bit pee'd off I went down but didn't have my invoice and the guy said he can't do anything without an invoice.

Then a mechanic came out and I explained to him and he said it may not be the MAF technically he said it could be down on pressure from a leak somewhere.

Now just a few questions, is the mechanic talking rubbish?

Where do I stand with no invoice?

And then he said if I DID have an invoice they would test it to make sure it was faulty, if it was faulty they will replace it, if its not then I would have to pay for the work they have done!!!!!

I feel like i'm being screwed:wtf:

Firstly he should have a record of the transaction hinmself so give him the info and approximate time of purchase and request a copy as i 'believe' they are meant to be saved for at least 5-10yrs or something alnog those line but be patient as it sound's like he is not the most helpful :(

the more info you have the easier it is to sort out like how did you pay ? check your credit card statements for a date ? etc

if you get no joy asking nicely then recorded post a request by letter to the dealer principal explaining your purchase and a request for invoive reprint and your predicament with regards to warranty

anyone parts wise worth their salt or service will be able to get you the info to be honest so perservere

As for the repair yes they will work on it to verify the parts at fault and if not then you will be liable for the labour but if it is faulty you pay nothing basically

having the same argument with a local VW over a noisy clutch

just check your mileage or find some record (mot) etc as i think it's 12 months/12000 miles now warranty on some stuff

Don't forget to allow for the company to bank the payment i.e. after a weekend etc mind too so a rough week should be enough

i guess the original box has gone as that would carry date/order info if special ordered for yourself

as for the MAF itself all i can suggest is check out the vagcom arear they may be able to help with a log/test ??

better still anyone local/mate let you test run with one ?

Well money went out of my account on 18th May so that should be enough for them just if they want to search for it.

Will at Performance torque ran a vagcom log and said its down on what it should be so I could do it again and see but I want to be 1000% can anything else make a MAF sensor read low but not low enough to come up as a fault on vagcom?

I've tried it with ignition just on and with it just on idle

But in past I have just had ignition on

How much is a new MAF? seems like a ball ache for a few quid

Buy a new MAF, if it fixes it give them the old faulty one back in the packet and say it's faulty and you would like a refund please..................

New MAF off top of my head is £170 I think or £90 if you exchange your old one

Hence why I am a bit miffed as I have already paid £90
