I want to hook up a reverse camera and want to connect it to the reverse light wiring so the camera only comes on when in reverse. Any ideas which cables are for the reverse lights ?

sounds daft but i did the same and ended up putting it onto a manual switch by the handbrake instead instead

can use it as a rear view mirror then

thought about that, but i wanted the screen to automatically switch on when reversing, saves messing about with buttons and switchs.

i put a voltmeter on the reverse light wiring and its reading 12V. Therese also a reverse sensor on the headunit which ive wired along with the powerlead from the camera to the reverse light. When i select reverse my headunit switches to the reverse camera but display is black, like the cameras dead ?

might be a dodgy lead/camera possibly or longshot checked the rca output is in the right place ? mine has several inputs and two em were labelled wrong way round mind

ok the reverse lights are the inner units that are on the tailgate and not the ones on the outer rear panels. It looks like the main wiring goes down the right rear side of the boot then into the roof lining, does anyknow know where they go from there. Iam looking for a place to cut in the reverse lights ?

i have..... to the reverse light, thats 12v. Bulb works and receives 12v on my voltage meter so i know its a good source. I ground it to a nut that holds one of the rear lights in the tailgate, between the nut and the bodywork should be ok right ?

All of the wires are individual (not in a loom) from the offside lights, along the lower half of the boot to meet the near side light wires, then from there up and over the rear seat belt posts, down the rear arch of the rear wheel (inside) and along the door seal to go through the fire wall on the passengers side
