Picked up a very clean 22k mile 2005 (55) plate Leon Cupra R a couple of weeks back. For as clean as it was it still wasnt up to my standards.

First up, the grubby looking brembos.

like most Brembo's the lacquer has lifted from the base colour.

First thing was to remove the calipers, degrease and remove the old lacquer. I used paintstripper and a jetwash to remove the lacquer, worked a treat.

Next I degreased, dried and keyed the original paint using Grey and Red ScotchBrite.

Next I masked up the holes and pistons

WARNING!!! Dont be daft like me and allow the ABS unit to drain dry if you remove the calipers from the car!

Good job there matey! I need to re-do mine as im not happy with them and have chipped one :(

I was really tempted right up till the last minute to paint them silver with either black or white Brembo badges, but i'm an OE fan-boy so red it had to be.

Wow stunning mate :D any more?

haha! you guy's like progress reports. I have the NSR calliper to do tomorrow and I have a new front spoiler to replace the OE one which has a few scratches, need to work out how the hell the OE item comes off though

After that I really must replace the 3x R badges as the clear-coat has lifted...next stop tonight, eBay. After that I have a couple of stone chips to repair on the bonnet and that's be me happy.

Teaser: Last major restoration, guess the car.

G40 or G60... not sure! How clean is that BTW... :-o

Maybe change the name of your thread as this is the readers ride section... something like "ENTERNAMEHERE's Leon Cupra R". Just a thought, you might get more hits then!
