The cooler i used was 2.5" and so was the pipe work as it fits the rest of the car. The reason what i choose a 2.5" cooler is because i wouldn't have to do any cutting to the frames, but saying that i don't think there is much cutting even with a 3" cooler.

I think on an LC the intake and discharge are on the same side (correct me if i'm wrong)

Mines 76 or 80mm and needed the slam panel brackets and bumper bar modifying on my LC

A nice thin one would also reduce lag I would have thought?

Right,so as far as FMIC's go.......big isn't always better then is that correct,as more lag is created with a big IC?

If that's the case,is there an argument for keeping the original IC and just trying to get a really good cold air feed to it?..... Or are the only REAL gains to be made with a FMIC?

Jamjay i must apologise if i've hijacked into your thread mate, cars ain't my strong point so all the info i can get helps me understand them...... up to a point lol

smic lacks room behind it for air movement which wont help no matter how much airflow hits it. you could cut a hole in the inner arch to aid flow but its still a small unit. even if you strapped the smic to the bumper it still hasnt the surface area of a fmic.

If you wanted the best from a smic i think fitting a vent in the wheel arch behind it would give better results than improving the feed

No worries Cowie, that's what the post is here for :). I'm still learning too.

On a side note, your not near Ambleside/Windermere are you, car looks familiar, may have spotted it last week?
