Purely speaking about straight line acceleration dry grip. Which one is better, the Eagle F1 asymmetrics or Vredestein Ultrac's? Any difference?

Fitted these to my FR TDi on Friday and they are fantastic. Massive grooves have got a tendency to pick up stones though.

Okay so my new tyres arrived a few minutes ago and before I get on the phone to camskill, I thought I'd make sure I'm not being dense.

The tyres tell you which side goes on the inside, but when you've done that shouldn't they be symmetrical when placed next to each other?

What I mean by that is if you order two tyres, shouldn't they have different moulds?

Here is a pic of what's been delivered, I would say that the one on the right hand side in the pic is okay for the nearside front (if you imagine the car is facing you), but I believe I need to swap one for an offside tyre?

So should I ring them or are they all meant to have the same mould?

i'm currently looking at buying 2 tyres as discovered that Toyo's are sh*te in the wet.....really sh*te:ban:

anyway, looking at these, reviews are good ,but i have the same thought about the tread pattern;
A, it doesn't look right
B, on one side the tread will channel water into the narrow end of the groove, won't this increase aqua plaining

my other option are Falken 452's

what are peoples opinions on the 2?

Bought a pair and got them fitted this week. It kinda annoys me that I only needed 2 though 'cos it just doesn't look right and it annoys me! I'll need another pair in a few thousand miles so I hope the offer is on for a while yet.
On the plus side, the rim protection is a lot better than the Pirellis so the missus shouldn't be kerbing them as much.

these are so good infact that i ordered another pair for the back on Tuesday! :cartman:

superb tyres, would recommend them to anybody!

I've had mine on for about a month now and they're great! So much more grip in dry and wet than my previous P-Zeros.. They're also a lot quieter on the road. Am going to buy myself another pair for the rear soon too. :)

i've been running the vredestein sessantas on my minis cince late 2007. Great tyres, Wet weather grip is superb. I also tried the Vredestein sportrac on my 206 track day car, they were'nt as good, but cheap

That price is about average on the 18's think Elite do them for 87 quid delivered to your door.

They also have a great lip that protects the rim nicely for anyone that lends their car to the wife....lol

Right, i need to order 4 new Tyres! Will be taking the Eagle F1 asymmetrics & GDS3's off, but i am Mr Credit Crunch and looking ta these as a cheaper option. Didnt take note but i'm sure the Goodyears have only lasted 9 months or so. Will these last any longer? Any update on the people that have got them...still running strong?

They are good in the wet, more so with lateral grip than ability to reduce wheelspin :)

Camskill are doing the F1 asymmetric in 225/40/18 for £199.90 a pair delivered at the moment. I did consider the Verdestines but all the local tyre places i went to slated them, the F1's seem ok at the moment but cant really notice much difference except an increase in noise.

£199.90 each !!!! are they that good?

i suppose a garage will slate them because they will make less mark up on a £100 tyre :p
