Cheeky little trip to AMD today for the 80k service and a new Milltek downpipe kinda fell onto the floor, bounced and knocked the old oem one off the car, then somehow wedged itself into the gap, knocking a new Pipercross into the airbox on its way. Ooops! (The Mrs didn't believe me either but she'll get over it.)

Boost comes in harder earlier now, boosting fairly hard from about 1500 rpm and staying strong towards the top of the [short diesel!] rev range. The car is more responsive and definitely quicker on the road. Also happier with the noise which isn't silly loud but fairly deep. Still sounds like a diesel though but a bit more purposeful on my non-resonated Milltek.

On another note - it has to be said that the guys at AMD are 100%. Much better than the Seat dealers I've used in the past and more thorough on the service. I'm more than happy to have finally taken the plunge to move the servicing away from the dealer network - cheaper too!

Nice one mate. I take it the down pipe is a decat mod then? I am so thinking of this and a straight through system too but unsure of MOT rules. I know it doesnt get CO measured but leagally shouldn't they be a cat fitted?

yeah i guess some will complain if they can't see one, but i dont think its technically a requirement on the test to have one... it's just emissions you have to pass - talk to whoever does your MOT, or make sure the decat can easily be swopped

I kept the old dp and cat just in case I have to refit it - but, there are plenty on here that have got through MOT's without issues or a cat.

The sound is pretty good when you can hear it over the diesel din and clatter!! Sounds great on a drive by and just stood at the rear of the car. Very happy with it.

They also have to pass the latest can of worms bought in but the EU, the 'noise test'

If the tester deems the exhaust note on half revs to be louder than an OEM system, if he feels like a vagina he can fail you for that...

Its the non-resonated system but has the backbox. It isn't particularly noisy, just sounds different. Deeper basey sound but the engine drowns most of it out!!!

Just for info - had an MOT on Monday and passed with the cat removed and replaced with the full turbo back Milltek - just in case anyone had any concerns, you will not fail an MOT with the cat removed!!!!

lots of posts confirming this on other threads......

Thing is though - you speak to dealers etc and some say that they would fail it. The Seat dealer in Colchester reckons that if the cat is missing, then they will fail it - maybe they can, maybe they can't - I don't know. I use a local independant for such things and he says different - hence mine passed. There was the usual warning that MOT's testing rules do change and there is nothing to say that next year it would pass - hence I'm keeping the old bits, just in case!
