don't take this the wrong way but it doesn't seem 'that' quick for a stage2+

Don't forget, firstly I'm losing a fair bit of drive due to drivetrain losses, and secondly I have OEM DP/exhaust/cats for now. Will never be as quick as a Cupra in the mid range in the dry. Off the line might be a different story.

its not full stage 2 plus. Its only running stage two plus to take advantage of the fuel pump. His DP is now a major restriction.

Has your code been adjusted since getting the ITG Warren?

Yes mate, stage 2+ dialled back a tad for lack of DP/exhaust. Went to Revo same day as ITG was fitted for some tweaks.

Exhaust is unlikely to get done until March / April 2010 (Pipewerx full system with cat bypass).

I wasn't comparing it to a stage2+ cupra i was comparing it to a meganesport stage2 on one of the youtube vids

add the extra weight to the drivetrain losses and you need to find some significant power to keep everything else in line with other hot hatches.

However, as with anything, power is nothing without control. Remove the dry straight line drag from the equation, and add an average damp winding British 'B' road, then the laws of physics soon equalise the playing field. As much as I occasionally enjoy straight line drags, I much prefer having full confidence in the chassis and drivetrain when I'm flinging a King's ransom down the Queen's highway on a wet day.

Good point, but I don't chance my luck in the wet any way, so 4wd wouldn't be any advantage to me

2wd/RWD owners often give Haldex a good kicking for being a cheap fake, but once you really exploit it you see how far physics can be bent with a very basic system. The latest gen version under the new 2009> cars (with the trick XDS diffs) are supposedly VERY good. They can put power to front / back / sides whereas my version only does front to back (upto 50% rear max).

Only prob you get with the S3 is in snow for instance you can only drive over deep snow to the point where the splitter / bumper digs in. Lack of ground clearance gets you eventually as you become a plough. Other than that it is phenomenal, and a league ahead of the LCR I had before which was sketchy as f@@k once the going got tough. New Cupra is MUCH better for traction.

Like you I don't risk too much in the wet, but its a good safety net with the power on tap.

....I somehow doubt if any air intake manufacturer would offer a group buy. The amount of R&D they will have put into the product before being available is not to be sniffed at.

I actually think it's somewhat insulting to ask ITG for a GB.

Nothing has been mentioned to date.

However having spent some time with Andy at ITG, I know these kits hardly turn in a staggering profit for them. We were looking at ways the kit could be sold (like in a stage 1/2/3 set up), and there was nothing beyond what you see here that could be value engineered out to make the kits any cheaper.

I believe there will be more expensive options which are powder coated, or even an option offering a battery relocation / reduction kit, but all these will be more expensive if there is a demand for this.

I don't Andy being able to scale costs back much for a group buy as it's only likely to sell in limited numbers and therefore he has to try and make some margin for the R&D and tooling.

Merlin Motorsport may be interested in setting up a group buy, but then I think you may find due to some of the less successfully managed group buys on the forum that the admin/moderation team may not want it to happen on the forum.

Yeah I agree that they have done allot of work on it and it looks a great product!

IMO I don’t think it’s insulting asking, that’s how business works and every company has margins on there items! If your after multiple quantities then why not ask, I’m sure most people would rather have a little extra cash in there pocket… worst case all they can say is no!

....Most people if given half the chance would like something for nothing!

As you've already acknowledged "they have done allot of work on it" and as a car enthusiast you already know that such products as air intakes aren't produced in large enough quantities such that there is sufficient margin.

You are also selfishly ignoring that by asking a manufacturer directly to accept a group buy you are obliging him to compete with his appointed retailers. Any request for a GB should be addressed to the retailer.

I still think that in this case it's insulting and disrespectful to ITG's efforts but I accept you have a different opinion.
