I wish I had some choice in where to take my car for its first service (due in 1,500 miles) but local dealer went bust, and next nearest are a complete shambles - might have to get it done in Coventry when up there on work......................

Ted Johnson in Barnsley have always 'quoted me happy', booked for 30K service (already!!!) for £101 inc vat. Nice one lads.

Shocks, lies and how much for a service????

My Leon FR170 is due it's first 10k Annual Service, and is 12 months old. I emailed (28/05/2009) around SEAT dealerships in the North West and had some interesting responses. All prices include VAT:-

Crewe SEAT £206
David Cook Motors (Oldham) £99
IMG (Warrington) £172
Liverpool SEAT No response
Manchester SEAT No response
Hobin of Bury No response

I've discounted the no responses, why bother having email as a form of contact if no one bothers to read/reply? Maybe remove your email addresses from your website(s)? So thumbs up to the above who did find the time to respond :)

Now, I read of a few of you getting service done ~£100, I didn't believe it, until David Cook emailed and confirmed both on the phone, and by email that the price was correct. I have in writing this is for a 10k service.

Sadly, I had to question David Cook as one dealer (who shall rename nameless) advised that David Cook charge £99 not for a 10k service, but for an oil and filter change!

To say I was rather surprised to read said comments. Having now had confirmation from David Cook that it is a £10k service for £99, I can't believe a dealership can be allowed to accuse a rival dealership of doing something they are not. I realise we are in a competitive market, but scaremonging the customer is not what I'd call "playing fair". I will be bringing this to the attention of the dealership. Yes, we all have to make/save money, but what do I gain? ...the customer in paying over the odds? Just in the same way, I'll never pay the list price on a car. If it can be haggled, it is. I want truthful, honest and value for money services. Hail price matching!

I haven't made a decision yet on where to get my servicing done, but I can't see how dealerships can justify charging over the odds. First SEAT stamp in the book, after that, if a dealership isn't competitive, I'm going back to a VAG Specialist.

That's enough of my rant and rave.

Of those who have had a service recently at David Cook, were you happy with the service?

Goot :)

I got my first service for £100 + VAT at J T Hughes (Oswestry).

Crewe SEAT is my local dealer, and they didn't believe me when I told them.

It's their loss, - they are really taking the Micky with their prices...

My car is coming up to 10k so I phoned around the local (Tyne & Wear) SEAT dealers and was quoted prices from £105 to £166.
I then told my supplying dealer (Alexandra Bridge Cars, Sunderland) the best price and they came back with £99.
Result:D

Why am I happy about paying £99 for some oil, a filter and an hours labour????

I can say that the service at David Cook is excellent.

I went to the dealership one Sunday morning and advised I was looking at buying an Ibiza Tdi. The salesman took a few details and my driving license, handed me they keys to the demonstrator and told me to bring it back in a few hours to make sure I liked it.

Since buying my car from there I have had 3 services and an MOT.

Staff have always been friendly and the final bill has never been more than £200.00

With regards to what happens with your vehicle at David Cooks when its in for a service:

The vehicle will be fully serviced to the manufacterers spec, no corner cutting.
Any filter or fluid which should be changed at that service interval will be.
Any special adjustments or inspections wil be carried out.
And once this has been carried out the vehicle will be washed and vacced out for you - ready to pick up.

Its a shame people have to use slander as a weapon in the motor trade these days.

By the way TOYBOY2710 - Thanks for your posative comments :)

David Cook are fantastic in my experience. I took my car in for a service there and left it with them overnight. When I went to pick it up the next morning I was there early with the sales guys but service weren't in yet.

They gave me the keys to a lovely candy cupra and left me to it while I waited for them to come back.

Excellent service imho. I drive to Manchester from York as they are that good.

i bought a service kit for my leon fr 170 for £45, thats for oil,oil filter, diesel filter, air box filter an pollen filter. from seat. i get discount on parts through work bcoz i work in the motor trade. then i fit it all at home myself, saved loads of money jst ant got service booked stamped yet.
