Hey guys.

Well, I've had a strange knocking noise on my car for months now. I originally thought it was wishbone bushes, done that and it still does it. I'm thinking now that it could be droplinks? ARB bushes?

It doesnt knock all the time. You can go down the motorway and it wont make a noise. Yet you get on A roads and over a small bump it'll knock like buggary. But then on some of the bigger bumps it wont do it. And some days it'll do it on bumps that it wont do it on another day. It's not consistant so I can't work it out!

All I can think is - it's either:

1). Engine mounts
2). ARB bushes
3). Droplinks
4). Intercooler pipework

Any help guys cos I'm getting sick to death of it! :(

alrite m8,
i had the same problem, had loads of stuff replaced and it turned out to be the engine mount.

seat replaced the following:-

-arb and bushes
-suspension top mounts
-power steering rack and pump
-droplinks
-engine mounts

id give the engine a rock and listen to the top left hand engine mount.

hope this helps

Have you checked the locking nuts on the tops of your coilovers?

I know you had/have the same coils as me. Mine made a bit of knocking when I first fitted them. Turns out the top nuts weren't tight, so nipped them up and it cured it.

To be honest, the top left engine mount does look quite low compared to my parents 08 plate Ibiza....

But at £150, it's expensive to replace and it not be that. But I have rocked my engine and the top left mount does make a bit of a squeak. I have thought it could be that....

Take the top cap off the strut top and crank that bolt up a bit?

Cant remember what the fronts are like but it was the rears on mine.

Should be two nuts on each to lock them in place. Worth a check.

Im 99% sure mine is the drivers side top engine mount. The mount has sunk so low that the bracket on top of the mount is touching the metal cylinder that sits around the mount. So will be getting one as soon as I get paid!

i'll have a look at ours.....but i think ours is something causing the carrier to twang the disc on the drivers side.

it's as if something gets stuck then suddenly jumps out of it's stuckness

My splash guard was catching on the droplink and it did that. It'd get so far and then twang the splash guard off the droplink. And once I had a stone stuck inbetween the rear brake disc and the guard on the back. That made a right racket too!

Ordering a new engine mount to see if it's that. :)
