Having tried most polishes and waxs,
I am totally now commited to Duragloss it is simply awesome.Try some Duragloss 105 and be amazed I have a Candy White Leon and it gleams like a diamond.
Also suggest you use the duragloss shampoo 901.It is very reasonable priced .I have been polishing for over 25 years and now dont bother trying out any other products.

I use Meguiar's, either the Deep Crystal 3-stage system or the Gold Class, then Zymol wax. For scratches/stubborn marks I use either metallic T-Cut or some compound I've had in my cleaning box for years, can't remember where it's from...

What do you actually want to do?

Do you want a super clean finish with no swirls? If so you need to get the car paint corrected and get some good sealants and waxes on her. This if course costs money.

To do it yourself there are hundreds of products on the market. Autoglym SRP is very good however to get the best out of it you need to apply it via machine. Once it applied via machine you need to lock in the "goodness" i.e. the sythetic fillers so it lasts with Autoglym EGP.

There are other good sealants and waxes on the market. I highly recommend CarLack 68 as an all in one jobby. To get rid of light swirls SwirlX is good but will take a lot of work. Swirlx is best used with a DA

Hope this helps. :)

as above, depends what you want to gain

i've noticed a few mention things like AG SRP and Duragloss polish... none of these are actually protecting your paint work.

a polish is simply that, a compound that has abbrasives in it to polish the surface of the paint so it looks freshers and free of contamination and swirls / scratches.

to get the best results from any polish you need to use a machine polisher but you can get pretty decent results by hand.

i used SRP and EGP on my mondeo then finished it off with a PoorBoys wax. This gave really nice results. since then i've moved on to machine polishes using a DA polisher. the results are much better but it does cost more and you spend more time perfecting the finish.

anyway, if you have any questions dont worry about pm'ing me or dropping a question into this section, i've been hanging around on DetailingWorld for the past 3 years and you'd be surprised at how much you pick up in that amount of time

Slight correction :)

A polish in every sense of the word in fact dont contain abrasives as all. There sole purpose is to make the surface shiny. However you are correct that a lot of polishes now adays contain cut etc...Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite is a good example of a polish with no cutting capability, just contains cleaners.

I can see where you are coming from with regards to making the surface shiney but without micro abbrasives i cant see how the polish would be able to do that.

Oxidation, contamination, swirls and scratches all dull the surface of a paint and i dont know of a product that can remove any of these without the use of abbrasives that break down during the polishing stage.

The Lime Prime range from DoDo were created as cleansers originally. Lime Prime contains very light abbrasvies and can be used as a polish as well as a cleanser. Lime Prime Light doesnt contain any abbrasives and as such is more of a glaze.

Anyway, i guess we're both singing from the same sheet
