[help?!]4wd not working anymore

Hi,

Last week i found out that my 4wd on my 2.8 v6 isnt working anymore, i went to a friend of ours who was a mechanic for Seat and still has this little thing to read out the computer of the car.
He said the Control unit for 4wd was broken, i also readed it on the display of that reading unit.

Now he said that it would cost a 1000 euro's to buy a new one.

BUT i have a few questions i think you guys might be able to answer me

is there anyone who had this problem before and got it fixed easily?
is a new control unit for the 4wd really that expensive
and does someone know how this unit works and maybe how i can try to fix it myself?
and does someone know a name or partnumber for this control unit?

Thanks!

Robin

Not really missing out on power to be honest, the Cupra & Cupra R are both quicker to 60mph than the V6 and there wasn't really a market in the U.K for the 2.8. However, there was a market for a 4wd Cupra/R but the 1.8T Cupra 4wd never made it here and a 4wd Cupra R was never made.
2.8 V6 is a heavier lump, NA with less torque and has to deal with 4wd transmission loss at higher revs. Off the line traction might go to the Cupra 4 but that might depend on the driver of each.

A bi-turbo kit on the v6 4x4 would be nice, like the HGP kits )

Like this danish one:

To get back to the unit, I reckon they are quite expensive, the optimised unit cost aorund
