When i drive normal, i got 34mpg, when i give it some ive had as low as 13 - 14mpg, mpg is miles per gallon - how many miles you can go to every gallon of fuel, the computer is not deadly accurate as ive found, best was is to run it to the fuel light, fill up with a gallon of fuel (1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 litres) so fill up 4.6 litres of fuel, reset the trip computer and drive normally and see how many miles it is till the fuel light. Your driving style affets the mpg quite badly if you thrash it everywhere, the odd spirited drive can also affect mpg, for example if your averaging 34mpg round town then go out for a nice drive, you may only return 24mpg. Bad engine & poorly serviced engines condition can also affect the mpg.

Shaunyboy i dont have the trip computer i'm not that priveledged! Danny...well i get about 70 to 75 miles from 20 quid of standard fuel (redundancy is killing me putting cheap fuel in) so i'm getting more fuel and less miles! And it doesn't seem to matter how i drive it i get the same return doing 60 mph on a motorway to what i'd get poodling around town sensibly!

I take it you put a premuim fuel in previously, it could be that you car is adapted to the premium fuel, maybe try putting in a premium fuel and see what you get then

LOL. Ok, there's 4.5 litres in a (UK) gallon - so 28mpg would give you 6.2 miles per litre.

Talking money, if a litre costs £1, you can travel just over 6 miles for a pound. Or put another way, every mile costs you 16p.

Hope this helps!

Just to add, you don't need to run a tank empty to work out the actual mpg.

What you should do is:

- fuel tank to the brim
- reset the trip
- drive around for a while (doesn't matter how far)
- record the miles driven
- fuel it to the brim again (noting the number of litres you fill up this time)
- now, divide number of miles driven by number of litres you just put in and multiply by 4.5

e.g. driven 200 miles and topped up tank afterwards with 30 litres, would be:
200/30*4.5 = 30mpg

My Missus uses the LCR in the week for work, on a full tank of super unleaded she gets around 370 miles, thats with air con on and off too.
I put £20 of Super in a few weeks ago when it was empty and got about 100 miles with a bit of thrashing.
As said numerous times above, these engines economy vary so much with driving styles.
Another example on the trip computer.
Last night blazing it round the lanes and then driving normal in town Avg 21.6.
3 weeks ago drove from Telford to Stourbridge through the lanes and A roads with Air con on and AVg 38.1, this was even woth a bit of overtaking.

multiply by 4.54609188 to be more exact ;) :D I normally multiply by 4.546 (you get a fraction more mileage!)

Morning

I have only had my LCR for a week and a half, I got about 230 miles to 50 litres of super in my first tank (this was surely due to me enjoying it and also got a boost leak from the DV which is now sorted)

Now I drive to work on the m25 through the roadworks at 50mph in 6th gear for about 10 miles, and the computer gives me a reading of 40mpg aveage (including the urban roads before and after the motorway.

Now I filled up 52 litres of super yesterday, have hardly driven it and the miles to petrol gauge says i've got 410 miles to fill up.

This is a stanrd car with green panel filter.

I did take the hose off to make the dump valve atmospheric, for a few days, and this may have had a bad affect on MPG as I just can't think getting 230 miles from a full tank can be right!

Ps forge DV arrived this morning [B)]

Plus, I know the car is heavy and the aircon compressor weighs a ton too, so how much difference does it make with air con on? This is my first car with a/c

In this weather on the motorway i'm sure its more economical to have air con on then windows open?
