Intercooler Hard pipes

I used JB Weld to make beads on the pipes I cut and they have never come off at all, they are rock solid. I looked at HSS for a mandrel bender hire and it is only good for up to 38mm pipes, so no good for IC pipes.

My IC hard pipes are stainless steel, I don't like the alloy ones, after using them before I found they deformed when tightening down clamps and created leaks. SS pipes are not that heavy really and they don't squash when you tighten clamps!

Dont suppose you know where you got the pipes from on ebay rob and what ones do you?. Think im gonna just bite the bullet and try this :headhurt: So far ive found pipe werx but dont know what angles are needed. Reckon i will probably use ss as they are no doubt rated higher pressure aswell

Hi,

I'm looking at fitting a FMIC to my own car, just wondering what size of cooler people are using, i see a few on ebay but they look pretty small. I see a few people such as Nev and Cupra-R04 are using bigger ones just wondering what sizes they are.....roughly.

Also i see that on the forge website it has 2 sizes of MAP pipe 63mm and 60mm, which one for the LCR.

Cupra-R04, pulled this from Nevs guide on fitting, not sure if its what you looking for.

Its approx 77cm long 30cm high and 8cm deep with 3" inlet and outlet, theres a pic of it in my readers ride thread where I was making my water spray last week if you fancy a look.

So would you sudgest 57mm hot side and 63 cold then rob. Is the charge pipe not 63 mm aswell though and would this not effect power at all?, Also on this topic would i be better replacing the charge pipe with ss as would this not be the equivelant of de-baffling it so better flow?

All I can tell you is from what I have found on my own particular car, if the hotside LCR pipe is 60mm (which I think it is) then I'd replace it with the equivalent size of un-restricted pipe. It's a weird pipe though, something like 70mm at the turbo end and 60mm at the other, makes no sense IMO.

Well mostly because of heat dissipation obviously aluminum has a far better capability over ss

I will be installing my front mount intercooler (Spiarco) in about two weeks with my SEM manifold
I will be fabricating the pipes using 6061 aluminum 2.5” hot side 3” cold side with a transition to 3.5” Hemi TB
Both ends will be connected to turbo housing and TB with V-bands I will post the Wright up as soon as I finish it
Setup is intended for 800hp
