was passing my local performance centre last week, i popped in to ask about a remap, he doesnt do remaps but is a superchips.co.uk specialist.
He printed me out a previous rolling road printout from a leon he had chipped, it was running 200lbft @3093 rpm before and 253lbft @3466rpm after, im fairly new to all this so now im not sure whether to go down the remap route or superchip?
Can anyone offer any advice please? :)

There are a few people that do remaps, custom code, revo etc, and these can be mapped through the diagnostic port so 30 mins and the car is mapped.
I think superchip has to be soldered into the ecu so would take longer.

Only heard good things about custome code and revo etc but the mapps are different slightly so need to see what would suit you better.
Custom code were doing a sale and was costing £305 for the stage 1 map, which is awsome.

remap, the only way.... chips are obsolete really now. so many reputable mappers out there now, most are forum sponsors on here.

yeah really good deal and everyone seems to be very happy, I think thats who I would go with but other companies do them so maybe do some more research see what suits you better.

well the chip offers more torque and less horsepower,

hi my leon had a superchip on it and it was fine had it for a good few years, they are also done through the dignosis port, mine had around 215 horse cant remember the torque figure but they are a generic chip not quite the same as a remap just have to whey up the pro's and cons

Not sure if I'm being dumb here but my understanding is that modern day Superchips are just remaps too. I'm sure that the days of the piggy back chip are long gone with modern engines like the VAG 1.8T.

The issue is that most standard Superchips maps are set up for a standard car. If the car is stock then getting an SC map will be hunky dory....but if you go to them with a few mods already done then the map they provide will not suit the modified set up and you then get probs with the car running badly etc.

I've heard too many bad things about SC to risk them myself... think it'll be a trip to the likes of REVO when the need takes me..

Basically with a superchip your changing the base map of the car, nothing else, you cant really adapt them to work with other mods like you could when re-mapping and results are poo. Chipping is an ancient art now, and re-mapping is the way forward as nothing gets disturbed like it does with a superchip, its quicker and better results are gained. You hear it alot from younger lads saying they got it chipped up and havent a clue what it means, say remap and there lost.

Once my car is up and running again i shall be having ago with the 5 hour revo trial, and see what i think, if i like i shall purchase, if not i will go to custom code :) Need a healty capable car first :(

well its looking like a remap then, custom code looks a good bet since there is a dealer nearby.
I know what you mean about people not knowing what remaps are, i was just talking to a young lad at work today about the leon, he knew superchip but when i mentioned i might get it remapped his face went blank :D

Rated very highly on the Renault forums - RS (RenaultSport) tuning originally, but do loads now. Got a decent Dyno Dynamics Rolling Road roo, so no BS performance claims!
