Hi

My car is a Seat Ibiza Mk4 2003 with the CD6 button.

I have bought this cable. GOLD-SMART-CAR CABLE from ebay

I have slot this cable into the CD changer slot at the back of the alana head unit.

I know that I have to earth slot 14 to make this work, but, there is no diagram on the head unit to show where slot 14 is on the head unit.

I have been to a seat dealer and they said that slot 14 is on the bottom ISO connector (red and brown wire)

Isn't it a live feed from the ignition so you shouldn't earth it?

Any help would be much appreciated!! Pictures would be great!

its nothing to do with the power or the speaker ISO plugs, its on the lead you have bought, each cavity should be numbered on the plug. It will be really small but it should be there.

Thanks for the reply.

Feel like a prat saying all this cause everyone else seems to get it working by this point, but I earthed slot 14, a blank slot, (on the cable I bought from ebay) and when I press the CD6 button, it just flashes 'changer' up and then goes back to the radio?

Anyone know where I am going wrong?

there shouldnt be anything else to it.
Try turning the radio on then take the earth cable off the HU and put it back on while its still powered up then see if it works then

I had this problem yesterday, when i finally did mine. turned out to be as simple as being a bad earth. Fixed it by disconnecting the whole lot and then reconnected the cable and the earth lead id soldered, and earthed it to the aligning screw at the back of the HU. hope that is of help to you.

Thanks for the reply.

Just to make sure I have the correct setup I have uploaded a picture:

The brown lead is the earth lead.

Can anyone see a problem with it?

What you have there is correct.
Below is the pinning of the 3 plugs on the back of the headunit which follows what you have done

I actually got it to work this morning, initially it didn't work, just flashed 'changer' and went back to the radio, but pulled the earth wire out then put it back in when the radio was on and it worked.
Only problem is that when I turned the radio off and back on it didn't work again, flashed 'no cdc' and returned to the radio?

Any suggestions?

Only weak point in the connection, I think, is the earth wire connected to the ebay cable, I only pushed the cable through at the moment, so will try toughen that up and see if it works.
