hi folks, i need your help, i have a mk1 Leon cupra turbo. it was running fine a few weeks ago, i went to start it and it will start but stops immediately after 1 to 2 seconds, the immobilizer is working OK.
i have had a VAG comp on it and it seems to point to a dash board failure?
i have been told this is the gateway to the car as most of the wiring/electrical stuff runs through this in some way or another.

if i got another dash, will it need to be mated/coded to my Leon? or could it be more than the dash?

if i don't get it sorted soon, I'm going to break it for bits

any advice will be much appreciated

when i try to start it, it fires then stops, turn it off, turn it back on and it always brings up a load of fault codes. erase them , turn it on, turn it off, and it brings up a load more, sometimes the same, sometimes different ones.
the VAG we are using is a i think 1552

What you are describing points to an immobiliser problem. Why do you say it's ok?

What Vag-com codes are you getting?

Have you checked all fuses / fuel pump relay?

all fuses are fine, fuel pump relay is working as it should,

some of the codes are;- 18058 p1650, 18057 p1649, 18056 p1648, 18010 p1602, and this one which we thought could be the immobiliser ;-17987 p1570, contr,modual locked

18058 (P1650) Drive train data bus. No message from combi instrument.

Possible cause, Fault in data bus wire to combi instrument.

Wiring fault - water / corrosion in ecu plug / ecu?

we have looked at the ecu, bone dry to the connections, but we haven't taken it apart as yet.
i know that cupra's are susceptible to the odd bit of water intrusion, but it seems to be dry

Yup.. classic imobiliser issue...

You are aware that the imobiliser relies on three pieces of hardware being connected together and talking properly?

The key/transponder chip..... the ECU.... and the clocks/dashboad module..

If any one of those is not working or is not coded in, the car wont run!
