I wanted to test my alarm so I sat in my car locked it with the key and waited for re alarm light to flash, then press, move everything and nothing happened? Why is it not going off?

Although Ive never set my own off, I think it says in the manual that it only triggers if someone forces a door open or tampers with the battery

if i run into shops and leave any one in the car (car locked) then mine goes off after about 30 secs due to the movement in the car...

Just sit in the car turn the alarm on , which locks the doors wait about 20 seconds then start waving (ignore the people staring thinking you are mad :p) and hey presto it will all go haywire.

The alarm only picks up movement.
i had my drivers side window broken a few weeks ago and it had about a 3 inch hole in the window and the alarm didnt go off , i sat in the car and locked the doors and the alarm went off , so it only works by motion detection.

If your dealer says the sensitivity can be adjusted then it should be able to do it through vag com.

yep - locked my missus in the car a few times after filling up and walking inside to pay for it (forgot she was in the car / force of habit - locking it as you walk away).

About 30 seconds later it'll go off and she'll look very pissed off at me as I walk back to the car

I can only think of a fuse going from the volumetric but can't locate the fuse box! By the steering wheel it's just empty no fuses? Anyone?
