improving turn in/front end traction????

right, and im saying its a genuinly good mod.... but its upto you.:p

What I mean is I haven't found an issue with my car that I need to correct with new bushes. Much in the same way I don't want to replace all the boost hoses or upgrade my rear brakes as some people have done.

The LSD you have on the other hand is a good upgrade I'd like! :D

alright guys, just after a bit of advice!

looking to improve the understeer on my car! (lcr225)
I'm trying to improve things as and when i find a weak point instead of the usual re-map route!
After a rather spirited ride out tonight i found that the car was pushing it's nose wide massivly through corners when i pushed it, it was wet but i'm pretty sure i'm having the same problem in the dry, just not to the same extreme's.

ideally i'm after sharper turn in and better grip on accelaration out of corners, any ideas? Would an upper strut brace on the front help this:confused:

i should mention my car is in standard form;)

:whistle: i'll be changing the tyres soon'ish. i'm not even going to say what are on at the moment!:redface:

I changed from cheapo tyres that were on my car when I bought it to F1's and
at around the same time fitted the S3 strut-brace. In my case it gave me all of
the imrovements you mentioned in your first post. Obviously you can do more
as suggested in this thread but this sounds like the perfect place to start.

yes mate the diff really is... but combine with all other mods i have makes for a dramatically improved handling car.. i wouldnt have got the diff if other mods werent done first, in a way i wished id have uprated suspension to better spec first. but hey, thats next.

glad you cleared the positioning of the ARB up willie, i was wondering why the lc had a thicker one than the lcr, just goes to show size doesn't matter it's what you do with it that counts:whistle:

as for tyre preassures Fl@pper, i run 29/26 psi at the moment as the recommended seat preassures was eating the middle of my tyres like they were over inflated. I am thinking of upping preassures buy two psi all round as it kinda feels like you don't have the strengh of the wall in the tyre, thanks for the info though bud sounds like a worthwhile test;)

Hmm, what tyres do you have, cap? I've always run the recommended 33/33 without issue.

I think in terms of performance it's probably: Tyres > DBM > Upper Strut Brace, for the upgrade route.

ah, thats it 33/33 couldn't remember what it said in the fuel cap. I run the P-Zero's mate but switching to falkens or maybe some other soon! i'm currently looking for an adjustable strut brace now and gona order a neuspeed adjustable ARB for the rear providing awesome think this is a good idea!

The S3 brace is the easiest option, don't think an adjustable one would be necessary. The GY Ayms are probably the best around but will cost you a bit more than the falkens.

Awesome recommended Neuspeed 22/28 when spoke to them - but I haven't decided what to do with ARBs just yet...

Just a bit of input - I have literally just finished swapping out my LCR front ARB for a R32 23mm front bar to compliment my 25mm neuspeed bar (been on for months).. first thing - what a f**ker of a job!! even with a lift and a couple of jacks it is a ballache - took me 4hrs roughly inc. clearing up..
With this bar fitted the car feels much more composed and the rear end is definately less twitchy - however tomorrow i'm fitting weitec coilies so everything will change :D

Thicker aint always better.
But 33PSI should be stuck to ridgidly, if you tyres are wearing bad in the middle
1 there rubbish tyres or
2 there not XL tyres

Putting my ARB hat back on again, I better ask you before you play around with your suspension...

You had the upgrade rear 25mm ARB with the OEM front and found the back a bit twitchy? Can I ask what stiffness settings you tried on the rear ARB? Have you had long enough to evaluate the 23/25 setup?

I notice a lot of people choose ARBs quite closely matched e.g. 22/25, 23/25, 25/28 (also recommended by RuddMeister), but AwesomeGTI recommend 22/28 and Willie 23/28.

(I should probably be writing this in my long-running ARB thread really! lol)
