hi all,

My standard 18' lcr alloys are slightly marked so i want to just give them a light touch up.
Been searching the threads but no one seems to know the colour to use.
Went to local Seat garage earlier but they didnt have anything that would match up !
Anyone have any ideas what the best colour match up i could use is ?

cheers

try halfords as they mix up paint and should be able to pop out and check your rim for colour or a chart

I took my spare wheel out of my car and wheeled it into a Halfords superstore with a paint mixing doo dar. They were really helpful and gave me the whole chart to try against my wheel so I could match the colour. However, no car colour on the chart was an exact match and using any would have been noticable.

TBH I've never seen anyone actually touch them up and find a suitable colour match. It also makes it more difficult as there was two shades of silver IIRC. It's a good excuse to get them painted/powder coated a new colour or high power silver :D

I just called Seat in Ireland, they said they did not have the colour codes for the LCR and the only colours they had listed for the MK1 leon are below.

Chrome Coloured Metallic 23D
Titan Grey 69Z
Silver 1ZL
Bright Chrome Z31

this might help someone, somewhere, sometime.

I managed to get a company in Bolton to match the colour, I had to leave the wheel with them for a couple of hours and they mixed me up an aerosol and a touch up pot. Its a pretty good match ( no one noticed at the national meet ) If anyones interested I can post the address and the paint code later when I get home. It was about £6 for the touch up and £10 for the aerosol. When I get a bit more time I plan to resray all 4 wheels so will have to get a couple more aerosols.

Why not just paint them your self, or get them refurbed/powder coated. If you want a match take a wheel into a local paint shop and ask for block of seat colour samples and match them up

Need to remember that the paint will change colour once the lacquer is applied so might be worth trying a few test strips and try see what they look like once dried.
