Mines pretty poor too, gonna have to get it checked.

I do know that the last Leons have been stood in a compound till they were bought and for some it was several months. The air con gas will leak out if the system isn't used much, seals dry out. The Land rover dealers i worked at would re gas under warranty if the car was under 18 months old. Any older and they'd put it down to the air con not being used as its not a manufacturing fault.

an ideal air con system should always be 10 deg c lower in the car than the outside temp. during an air con service the coolant is removed and the a vacum is carried for about 30 minutes ending with a leak check. if a leak is detected this will be covered by warrenty as a component has broke down and is not moisture in the system. seat will not pay a dealer to remove and refill air con unless it has to be done to change a part. that is why some people get it done under warrenty and some dont. an air con service should be no more than £50 + vat so dont get ripped off. air con machines have a built in printer with details of coolant removed and coolant added so ask for it and check with main dealer to make sure correct amount has been added.
and remember air con always works better on recycle as its pulling air from inside the car that is already cold over the cooler and not warm air from outside.

Well I'll give that a go as well. I just hope I'm not wasting money on this CC.. I know it prob needs a service, but these Seats are cheap to buy, but not cheap to service.

Well I coughed up £105 for the climate control service etc. and to me it doesn't seem any different. So at the moment I'm putting it down to a sh1t system. Meadens Seat garage said there were no leaks etc.

can you hear the compressor clutch clicking in and out cos it wont if there is no pressure in the system. if its not just press one of the air con valves down with a screwdriver to make sure.

This is exactly the difficulty that i am experiencing at the moment. I managed to get a re-gas.The Dealers wanted £128.00 to do that. I asked a local garage and they told me about someone £58.00 all in. Great i hear you say, well no not exactly they did te pressure test, that held out fine, but they noticed the clutch not staying engaged and this in turn renders the system usless.
They also put a green dye into the system to check for leaks. The afore mentioned is now all over the engine and fans, green mess, fcuk.
There is however a safety net the system will not run if below a certain amount of refrigerant gas. I have booked it back in to the stealers for thursday, i hope they accept its a compressor fault. (do you think they will charge for a re-gas?)

The excellent Seat Camberley service centre is about to have mine back on Thursday for the third air-con failure of the year. First time a seal went and leaked its gas out - fair enough. Second time the fan control unit blew up, so they replaced the unit, the fans, the refrigerant again (and the water pump while it was in).

First time when the seal failed it was accompanied by a few seconds of a 'whooshy/watery' sound behind the dash on the passenger side when pressing the snow-flake button. Its doing that again this time. The revs hesitate slightly so I believe the compressor is having a go, but the air that comes out does not drop in temperature. What a pain in the rear.

here a tip if you are looking for air con to be recharged , go to kwik-fit as i was charged £65 for the gas to be recharged , check for leaks and de-bug the system.

Mine isnt as cold as my mk4 golf was which should be the same all be it that was just A/C not Climate Control. Id say it gets cool but not cold so might be worth a regas. My mate who owns a garage charges £60 i wouldnt go seat to pay anymore.

Scott99, the Fgas certification does not have to be in place until July 2011 The kwick fit guys dont have safe handling and I expect when July 2011 comes round they will drop the service altogether, because I cannot see them spending time training personel for this refcom requirement.
