It looks like I'm going to be forced to sell my LCR. :(

I've just taken a job with a company car and it doesn't really make sense to keep the Cupra R. I'm going to be proper gutted when I part company with it.

I shall have to make the most of it over the coming months before I'm stuck in something poop. I don't actually know what I'll be getting yet, but I doubt it's going to be anything even remotely comparable to my beloved LCR.

I heard a rumour your new company car is going to be a Kia Picante . . . Ha

Hope you get to choose a good one

Haha, now that would be truly rubbish! :(

It's definitely going to be a 1.4 TDI Polo, I don't have any choice in the matter unfortunately. To be honest it's not that bad, at least it's a VAG car but it's certainly no Cupra R!

I do have the option of using my own car and claiming mileage but the saving I'll make on tax and insurance will be almost £1k per year. Plus the misses wants to use the money from the Leon to fund our wedding.

But there is also no resale value to a company car (from you point of view) and no fun factor either. For a tiny saving of only 1k a year I would definately keep the LCR.

1k a year? Thats really not worth it imo. Especially if you factor in the money you may have spent in upgrades on it.
If its a new job and your on probation, worst case scenario, you lose your job, and your carless too.

It's also not a fair comparison - yeah you'll save £1k with a Polo company car - but you'd also have saved over £1k with a second hand Polo instead of your LCR in the first place.

You chose the LCR over a Polo before, so why choose the Polo now?

Why not sell the LCR and buy a Polo privately? Look for one that's say...£3k less than the sale value of the LCR and you've got yourself a decent saving. You can still claim mileage/fuel, you won't care about putting mileage on the Polo because let's face it, it's a commuter car. IMO, that would be a better route, especially if you get a 1.0 or 1.2, tax will be very cheap.

If it was just about the money then I think I would go for the less financially sensible option and keep the Leon. I didn't realise about the whole company car tax deal and it works out at about £33 per month for the Polo compared to the current £85 I pay for the Leon.

We're thinking of using some of the money from the sale of the Leon to fund our wedding, which almost means it's a straight decision between keeping the car or getting married. :S

Dont do it not worth it for that saving, Plus the car to you is a hobby im sure like it is to me, take that away and what you left with nothing to Clean, Polish, Enjoy, Drive, Cleaning a 1.4 polo is no fun, I sold my Cupra a year ago im going all the way to aberdeen drom portsmouth to buy another pristeen one on monday, I had a golf mk5 tdi in the year without the cupra with the mind set that oh ill save this much a year and be conservative BIG MISTAKE, BORING PEICE OF CRAP! sold that now going back!
And letting the misses spend the money on a wedding thats for other people's enjoyment no mate now give her a kick for that idea! Keep it i swear you will regret i cried for months!!!!
