what times were you running then Willie? i'm quite suprised the focus RS was lapping Quicker than the scoobs and Evo's? As said above you've had a very purposefull aproach to modding, well done bud!

Excellent results Willie, a credit to the modding approach you've taken and recognising the need for driver skills as the best mod out there.
I really wouldn't give too hoots about the lack of power at the moment since you know that that can be sorted within a few hours and a great feeling awaits.
Get the best out of your current set up first and enjoy your investment.
Did the experience make you want to adjust any set up of your coillies etc.
Always a pleasure to follow these threads. :)

Thanks Willy. Driver skills are well lacking but have learned quite a bit about me and my car just from the 12 laps I did yesterday.
Very glad I bought coilovers now with the adjustable rear ARB as I was getting quit a bit of understeer. I know most of it was with me going too hard into corners but would like a more tail happy car to help me make the tight corners in this small track. The coilovers have only been dropped 25mm and set the adjustments to the KW recommendations. Lots of fiddling to do with this but a bench mark has been set for this track

Ha ha ha ha ha! Why?! All you had to do was put a seat in it :p

Car was going good today Wil. I think the EK9 made 71.5 in the end by the way as memory serves. I am sure the times will be up on SIDC's page.

All in, a good day. Surprised quad boy never came off, still gutted for the TVR squad and the Astra had a broken drivetrain somehow.

The EK9 did 71,5, yup. But reading his spec was still very surprised about the small difference between te two of us

Was surprised by alot of the so called big turbo guys. This was a very short and narrow track so the 106/205 and Atom were well at home here.
Some of the Scooby driving was a bit iffy, like a guy with a Classic STI which ssounded nuts getting 76's
Gutted I didn't come along! I'm now sore and scraped and all sorts!!

Good times there! Get her stripped!
Aye aye loon, see the old man there but couldna mine his name. Had a squad o bairns we him ina, brothers and sisters??

Stripping will be happening very soon:)

All things considered, I am still glad I never took Bess yesterday Willie. Seeing the photos of the TVR made me realise just how important track insurance is.

I'm on the reserve list for a tuition day tomorrow so fingers crossed on that one.
Found some pictures of the track day on various forums but no vids yet.

Did you confirm with Knockhill regarding the 10k limit? Because my friends run Cosworths on those days all the time and book value on those is a lot less than 10k.

Just noticed a comment from big gay Al. All that's needed for the MOT is for the seats and harnesses to be fitted. All the bits fixings for those are in so i just need to finish painting the inside then she'll be good to go.

I could trailer it but i'm not doing any track days etc until i get the gearbox done, also want to put a few miles on it before hammering it on a track because it's been sitting for two years.

They might change there minds when they see the car, and explain that with all the bits fitted actual value is far greater than £10k;)

Good luck with the tuition day!

Were all on your case because we want to see the wee red beastie in action.
If your needing a hand we fitting bits and pieces give me a shout

Well with £1,200 coilovers and £850 FMIC the price soon builds up, lol

Well, that's the first tuition day done and TBH it was magic!!
Got Jamie as an instructor who could drive a bit:).
Initially I drove 3 laps, then Jamie did 1 good 1 bad then another good lap.
That was about the best bit of the day TBH. It was great to be in my car with someone who really knows the track. He had lots of good things to say about my cars set up too.
Anyway I tried heel/toeing but due to wrong shoes and the difficulty of this initially it wasn't too successful. This is something that I would like to suss out as it seems very handy so i have homework on this one.
The lines, braking and accelerating points were pretty quickly picked up and exploited.
The first corner after the straight produces a bit of side ways action which was ace!!
The chicane took a bit of balls but was great fun.
I lowered the tyre pressure after Alford as I had forgotten i had it at 36PSI for the road, oops. This wouldn't have helped my understeering problems at Alford (good excuse)
Anyway if you haven't done this and are newish to the track it's well worth the £120.
I am REALLY impressed with my cars set up now but it has highlighted the need for more speed.
Roll on the SIDC in August to see ow the car fairs against the Scooby boys
