Have done a search looking for advice on which NGK spark plugs to use. I'm currently using NGK PFR6Q which I understand are the standard ones. I have recently had my car stage 1 remapped and have heard its better to use colder plugs on mapped cars??

I've always used NGK plugs and can't praise them enough. I was just unsure which one to go for, its between the platinum one i'm using just now or go for iridium ones.

If i decide to go for iridium plugs should I go for the BKR6EIX or the colder BKR7EIX ones. Any help and advice would be appeciated.

same here for NGK won't use anything else, If you believe what the reps and promos have to say then the difference platinum/iridium is longer life from the differing metal material

as a guide
normal 20k miles
platinum 40k miles
iridium 60k miles

saying that though it's not always 'just' about mileage as the materials get harder they are less prone to blob/melt/detonate etc but a 'NGK 7' (colder) plug always seems to be reccomended once you start pushing some boost and a lot of people seem to like the Denso Iridium as an alternative but I would check out the big turbo tuning section - plenty of threads about on Denso and alternatives etc there

There is another theory that copper plugs are the way forward on turbo cars. The reason for this is if a cylinder runs lean and hot, the plugs starts to melt and the spark stops being produced.

Platinum and iridium keep on producing a spark under adverse conditions and then engine components fail.
