Flies in K1 rear light cluster

Yes, you read me right - after washing my Leon K1 recently I noticed lots (and lots) of small flies (dead) in the rear light clusters - as it happens my car was due for annual service and I mentioned it to Barlow SEAT Wolverhampton - in fairness to them they took photographs and have sent the 'evidence' to SEAT for a ruling about replacing the light units under warranty - I was rather hoping they could just be sucked out (as they obviously got in some how) but apparently the light unit is sealed. I've been waiting for a reply from SEAT for 5 weeks now (despite a few chases) but still no response, so I wondered if anyone else had encountered this situation - not causing a problem but it's one of those things when you have spotted it, they drive you nuts !

I've got small flies in both my rear light clusters. I can't work out how to get them out and I've never bothered mentioning it to the dealer.

In front of a PC....
I found a dead fly in my rear light cluster this morning. Could have sworn it wasn't there on Sunday when I washed the car :(
Might mention it to the dealer the next time the car is in.

hmmmm........i thought you well seasoned seat owners new about this problem. When you reach 71mph your lights become fluid like yet stable, thus enabling flies/bugs to penetrate it. Ah ha i hear you say, what about the rear lights......well........when you turn you ignition on it momenterally opens a mini black hole inside your front lights which in turn transports them into the rear lights.

I hope this clears things up. :D

Spanish fly !?

Got my offside tail light replaced under warranty by Kings Seat Portsmouth for this problem. No questions or debate from Seat.

Thanks to the responses to this thread - seems like this isn't an isolated incident - I'll chase Barlows SEAT again for a response - flashp - any explanation about how the hell they get into a sealed unit ?

Same problem myself, anyone any solutions?

I'm going to stick my neck out here.

Remove the cluster, this will leave a hole where the bulbs used to be. squirt in some washing up liquid, fill with water, swish the water about, wait an hour, empty, rinse, dry with a hair dryer or leave in the sun and refit the cluster.

nice idea Nath, wish it was quite as simple. The culprits are in the sealed part of the light lens - it's a bit like double glazing - the bulbs sit behind this part of the lighting unit - that's why I really can't understand how they got in. Sounds like flashp had better success with his dealership - a further chase required at my end !
