Y reg is 2000-2001.

ALH (not ahl, ahl is a 1600 petrol engine found in VW Passats) is a TDI 90 engine with a variable-geometry turbo, like the TDI 110's. My guess would be that it is only the ECU map that makes it 90 bhp rather than 110. EGR gearbox is associated with it.

Does it have the 'tdi' badge remaining on the boot?
If so, if the 'i' is in red it'll be a 110, if the 'i' is silver like the 'td' its a 90.

Don't think it's just the map, although there are a lot of similarities between the two. My reaeson is that a remap of the two comes up with siginifactly different results in power.

Aren't AHU and ALH almost the same, diffrence between 90 and 110 is the turbo, fixed geometry in the 90, variable in the 110

ALH is different to the other TDI 90 engines in that it also has the variable geometry turbo, just like the TDI 110. Maybe there was a need to keep building TDI 90 cars for marketing reasons, or to use up the other components: the gearbox, for instance, is not the same as that found on the TDI 110.

Well, I have an ALH engine, and if I have a variable geometry turbo, might explain why i've wrung nearly 135bhp out of my 90 ;) :) :funk:
