Im fitting ap coilovers next week and have a ibiza fr tdi with 20k on the clock .It doesnt appear to have any knocks on the top mounts so i wounderd with this milage would i need to change them .Do you just need to fit the coilovers and thats it?
Also im wanting the rear end to have about 1/2 inch gap ,will i need the blue adjuster out or will this be ok with it in.

top mounts will cost you about £50, which isnt too bad really so it worth getting them done as obviously you need to strip the assembly down should you need to change them later.

When I did mine however after 40k and 6years they where fine, bit rusted but fully functioning

Top mounts are £20 each and the top mount bearings are £7-8 each from SERE Motors on here.

When I fitted my coilovers I put new bearings in, old ones had only covered ~36k but had signs that there were starting to fail.

Hi thanks guys,Dont suppose just doing the bearings would be ok seeings my car has only covered 20k or do i just have to bite the bullet.
Also i want about 3/4 inch gap between the wheel and the arch do you think i can leave the rear adjuster plated in?

I replaced my top mounts and bearings when I fitted coilovers recently (52plate 50k) They looked ok but I couldn't tell for sure. Makes fitting a lot easier to have new top mounts n bearings as you don't have to mess about removing the old ones from the old strut :)

I understand mate, just hoped to keep the cost down by reusing them as ive only got 20k on mine. Also are your coilovers using the rear adjuster cups or did you remove them as the height you have yours is what im after

P.s any body used the febi top mounts from german swedish as they are half the price of seat .The only thing is im not sure if the FR TDI ones are ment to be more up rated in which case german swedish might only do one type.

Tbh if my car had only 20k on it I probably wouldn't bother replacing the top mounts and bearings. Someone on here told me that they're likely to need replacing at 60k, so it made sense for me to change mine.

I've still got my rear adjusters in. I've got FK konigsports which lower the rear more than other brands though.

Cool ,i might just get the bearings replaced and as for the rear adjuster cups ,unless it sits silly high im going to run it for a week on the lowest setting then see how things are Im hoping to achieve a 1/2- 3/4inch gap between the arch and wheel so will have to see.As for the fronts i recon leaving about 45mm from the bottom should be a good starting point.
