Wow - I must be a 'grandad' driver then - I always get 50+.

I ended up photographing my average MPG the other day - 73.4!!!!!!

I can get 80+ after a 2 mile drive into the local town - mainly down-hill but a few times it needs revving. I'll pic it next time!:)

I absolutely flew home tonight nothing passed me and I averaged 34mpg I think you would have struggled to get more than 20mpg in a petrol fr keeping up!

Agreed - on a rapid run home i do 36mpg and i nothing gets around me! The up and running pull is fantastic! The joys of torque. I sometimes think it aint pulling that strong then I remember I am still in 6th........

My bad - was actually 74.2 :)

That was driving with the flow of traffic for like 5 or 6 miles on the A6 in Stockport.

I'm so proud haha.

my 2.0TDI 140 averages about 42mpg when the partner drives and with me about 35mpg which is mostly made of A roads and dual carriageway. i did try really hard one day and reached 46mpg which is the highest it has ever been

My best is 67mpg, thats coming home from work on twisty A roads total distance 19 miles, not using the brakes using engine brake instead, reading the traffic ahead, keeping the speed under 40mph, keeping the rpm at 1000rpm 99% the time except when going up hill changing to 5th gear 1500rpm to 2000rpm to use the turbo to accelerate gently etc etc.

Although my car is superchipped to 209bhp which makes it more efficient anyway.
My overall average is 47.8mpg.

I normally get between 500 and 600 miles from a tank of diesel, I have not tried wilson's yet, i cant beleive though that there is a cost per mile benefit from using fuel additives? Does the cost of the bottle save you more than the cost of the bottle in mpg??

If I drive very hard on the same roads I can get the mpg down to 30mpg but I cant get the average any lower no matter how hard I try.

Heres my photo:

from the looks of it he's retro-fitted that satnav. it's pushed the time too far right so some of the numbers are missing.

i'm not entirely sure about directions diplaying on MFD tho.

yeah its because the rns 510 dvd navigation unit updates the red screen on the dash to show a secondary HUD type display of the current navigation instruction, its the compass at the top left that on the newer 2.0 can bus is in a smaller lettering therefore it fits on better.

its a small price to pay, i love the rns 510, its got all my music stored on the hard drive, and a constant large colour map of where you are, as well as rerouting around traffic problems.

I can do that :D (FR TDI 08):
~190-210km/h (120-130mph) contant on highway = average from 250km ~28 mpg
commute to work in traffic jam, 2x10km per day = average from 500km ~26 mpg

Minimum it was 51 mpg.

5500 miles driven since new: mixture of town driving and motorway. Average tank driven 300 miles motorway (80mph on cruise control), the rest dual carriageway/town driving (generally out of rush hour). Occasionally felt the car attempt DPF regeneration (1k revs, stuttering at 2k rpm when accelerating) when town driving and helped it along whenever possible - any excuse to jump on the motorway. Pro-active, so don't see any DPF lights, and hope not to see any either!

Shell Diesel Extra and Millers DPS4 since new.

Did the same kind of journeys in my old Mk1 Leon TDI SE (110bhp) and results as follows:-

MK2 Leon FR 170 - Average 39.93 mpg
MK1 Leon TDI SE 110 - Average 43.88 mpg

Figures above worked out on a spredsheet, I don't rely on the trip computer. Very happy with the results.

Goot :)

How Do?

I sold my Leon Cupra R yesterday and bought a Altea Fr TDI ( reluctant sale due to expected baby ). I really didnt want to lose the Cupra R and if im honest wasnt that excited about the Altea.

I drove 200 miles from the garage home and only used a QUARTER of a tank! ! ! !

Trip computer said 45-46mpg. I loved that Cupra R but think im going to enjoy cheaper running costs
