Dropped my car into the garage this morning for it's service and had a good look round a new black FR

Thoughts:-

- Whilst the flat bottom wheel looks nice the actual black plastic insert which says FR feels very tacky and bendy.

- Wing mirrors. Since when did someone at Seat look at the Peugeot 207 mirrors and think ''they look nice''

- Boot and the ''hump''. Unreal decision to do this although dealer said that due to the complaints of potential customers and themselves and other dealers he expected that the issue would be sorted.

- 18'' option which was fitted to the car I saw looked poor. They looked like 17'' wheels and not as distinctive as the current 18''. The £500 option for Orion wheels in Black is expensive too.

+ Far improved interior especially like the dash lights.

+ Rear lights look nice being slightly squared off also the smaller S badge suits better.

Interested to know what the gearshift indicator is and where it is located?

Overall still like the design but wonder if this will keep me interested in 3 months when I change cars or I may go with a VRS Octavia with the same CR 170 DSG box. At least that will have a bigger boot!

I was just having a gander at the SEAT configurator thingy, I'm liking the return of Kiwi yellow (green) to the colour palette.

Not sure it suits the mk2 shape though, i think i'd rather have the orange (for the record if I was buying one it'd be white or metallic grey).

The mirrors are a new EU directive i believe, look at the new roco & facelift A3 for example

Whats different with the dash lights?

The gear shift indicator if anything like the A3 is in the bottom of the DIS and displays the curent gear with either a 1 > 2 when it feels you need to change & even recomends skipping gears at time or if you are in 6th and labouring the engine it would show 4 < 6 for example. On the whole its a little gimmicky but provides slightly useful information, it can be turned of with VCDS if it becomes to irritating though.

Picked up a brochure for the new leon from my local dealer....according to Seat, the whole range should be equipped with a space saver wheel as standard.

Having just ordered a cupra i can only wait and see what happens with the spare, but should there be a full-sized wheel in the boot i will be having words with the dealer and wont be going without a fight!

You are kidding right? Not many cars come with full size spares nowadays and the chances of you getting a full sized spared a very very slim.

my understanding is that the 17" models will come with a spacesaver whilst the 18" models have a full size spare. I think this is probably true as far as the fr and cupra are concerned but i've no idea what happens with the lower spec / smaller wheel models.

Pre facelift climate controls with RNS510 beats that, imho. Only disappointing thing is you need the newer unit to show the climate adjustments on the 510, if you want that.
