This forge silicon pipe on the left here......what size Internal diameter is it?

Is it 3"?

Going to do mine this week when my green filter turns up, not gonna drill any holes tho as I want as little hot air as possible getting in

It's 3" on the Cupra R, I'm not sure about the other's.

yup. unless someone has a before and after dyno result for a purely smoothed box i really doubt that makes any difference. I think the raised bits are there to serve a purpose, i cant be bothered to explain why but i;m like an old man on this, stuck in my beliefs rather... Mine is just drilled and there is definate noise improvement. only low down in the revs tho, once your really gunning it its neglegable. The argument as to downsides is opaque as some would argue that it can allow warm air from the bay into the system however on the other hand there are people saying that it doesnt matter because of the turbo super heating it and the intercoolers cooling it down afterwards anyway.

my thoughts, if you dont have a turbo, worth making sure that you factor in some way of keeping the intake air cool. i.e. drill it if you wish but put a cold air feed to the general area. if you have a turbo i think its kinda worth doing the same as surely if the air enters system, goes through turbo and cooler, its better off going in cold than warm. maybe just not quite so significant. could suffer some heat soak when sat in traffic and pulling away. I drilled on the side of the box towards the front/right (battery)

done my own veriation of an intake tonight i used some 70mm rain water down pioe and a 22.5 degree elbow then heated the elbow to an ovel to fit the airbox

what do you think

cost me zilch got the stuff off the site and it smooth as inside it to so no restrictions see if it makes any diference

i got a slightly different exhaust note wouldnt have said it made much difference on my petrol. although on the diesels i know it makes quite a nice difference not massive but feels smoother from what ive been told.

You dont need to but it will help get more air into the airbox

Have you lot put your large air feed down to the original inatke at the front of the engine bay of have you taken that out as well and put it down behind bumper?

The O/E on e is only about 1.5" x 2.5", so you will get a lot more air with a 3" feed pipe

If you have a cupra then you can put it down to the fog light, if you cave a Cupra R you cant brcause of the side mount intercooler
