boosting problem need help!

Hey guys am iv got a ibiza curpa and iv got a bit of a problem with my boosting, basically some times it just doesn’t kick in well so it seems. I don’t have any lights flashing on the dash, its only sometimes the boost doesn’t kick in.
If you put your foot down its as if there just isn’t a turbo, but some times it does kick in and i can tell.
Any ideas?

when does this happen
have you got the n112 and n249 valves on the car or removed from the car?

Cheers buddy, miltek cat back exhaust, forge dump valve with yellow spring, pipercross induction, p-torque stage 1, currently running 204bhp that all that’s been done as far as im aware, I brought the car with all the mods already done to it. I don’t really have a good knowledge on these engines.

Basically it just feels like the cars not boosting properly, if I put my foot down in second for instance it just doesn’t feel like its boosting properly, when I first had it was a lot quicker. Im not sure if its me imaging it but I think I can hear the turbo spoiling up louder now, like a louder hissing.

Any ideas guy?

vacum leak. check all vacum lines and see if anything is off or split. and check all pipes are done up around the tip.

try getting the car on vagcom to see if you can find anything


do you know if the car has the n112 or n249 bypass

Take the MAF off and see how it runs. If it runs faster then you need a new MAF

what d/v have you got if its boosting fine somtimes but not at others with a louder hissing it could be sticking open try taking it off and giving it a service..

as for the by pass i dnt think it has.

will it have anything to do with the coil pack?

I dont think it would be ur coilpacks mate as ur car would run really rough if it was...

it wouldnt be a problem but if you post in the vagcom section on this site im sure there maybe someone who could help you

Yeh the free version will be fine. If it says that you need the full version to see what an error code is, get yourself onto the wikipedia list or ross techs and it will reveal all.

Not really. If you need any help it is all in the vag com here or ross tech.

ow i forgot to mention iv got a boost gauge, it seem its boostin to around 11 psi n doesnt seem to wana go any more :/

Mine is remapped to 190 and only boosts to around 11psi, maybe slightly more but not much.

im pretty sure it boosted to about 18 psi before though

n it feel like the boost runns out now like it get to 11 psi and im still in medium revs

before it would rev up to just below 8 and still be boosting and pulling then

now it seem like it jst dies off

My car has these symptoms on and off, boosted to a max of 11psi but this week it's running a dream spiking at 21psi. Could it be something to do with a sensor on the accelerator as mine feels like it presses down further now!??
