Getting PD150 hybrid done :-)

I am currently away in Mexico.

All I can say is we have had problems with TD turbos, and will not be using them anymore in the future.

We currently have a customer who has TD Stage 2, and it now seems the vains are sticking already

We fitted another turbo hybrided by them which smoked and had to be repaired under their warranty as they had made an error on a seal tolerance.

We are now is discussions with CR turbos to use their turbos instead.

It's all well and good blaming turbo dynamics and saying your going with someone else to supply turbo, but your still going to have the same problem if you don't check the turbo is the right one before you fit it and map it with the wrong software

mate I don't think the turbo has anything written on it to say what stage it is md.... etc.

sure mine didn't.

For this reason you have a caliper or a three point internal micrometer.....(as retailer i mean, not as customer)

The PD130 turbo and PD150 turbos are different part numbers. The PD130 is a Garrett GT1749VA and the PD150 is a Garrett GT1749VB - thats easy enough to check and quite a give away....

Actually correct, but some turboshops remove the oem plate and stamp their own fab.nr. on the housing.

Dont know if TD does....

You get a warranty sheet with the turbo stating what stage it is, for karls instance it says md374 on the sheet ;)

mine said 376 on the sheet (first thing i checked). but didn't karl get it himself? so he'd would of seen it, or did td send turbo and sheet to p torque?

because it was my old turbo he sent to them.

When I had my hybrid done - i didnt get a copy of the turbo spec sheet. It was sent to p-torque. So I'd imagine it was the same for Karl. :(

Just a quick update, I picked my turbo up from guy who sold it to me off ebay and sent it off to TD Saturday. I had a phone call from them saying they have taken it apart and it looks in really really good condition. I was originally quoted £700 to get it hybrided to stage 2 but cause its in such good condition it wont need as much doing to it so it will cost £595 :funk: so total cost of hybrid turbo is £895 happy days. here is pic of turbo before i sent it off. Should have it back by end of week, then i am just waiting for intercooloer to arrive should be within two weeks. Getting Jabbasports to do rest of work.

Was it a Garrett GT1749VB?

Good choice in getting Jabba to do it! They were second on my list. I've got an EGR removal pipe that's been ordered from Jabba - will be fitting it when I go hybrid! :D

What date are you looking at getting yours done?

Nooooo cba with injectors. At the end of the day, there's power and too much power! Hybrid is gonna be mad enough as it is - there's only so much you can do before it spins ALL the time! It's bad enough in rain now with just a map!

I use mine daily and it's my work horse too so need some reliable. I think hybrid will be enough for me :)
