Im wanting to replace my Miltek 2.75" stainless on res system for a custom 3" system.
See if theres much of a gain to be had.

What would a Miltek system used for 8k Miles be worth?

Cheers

Mike

I cant see a custom exhaust giving any huge amount of gains over the Milltek Mike.

The down pipe might get you £350-£400. The cat back might get you £300.

That is what I paid new. Plan is to keep my 3" DP and having the 2.75" System remade 3"

I may be wrong so dont flame me , but i thought there was a thread on here that said the 3" after the cat gave less of an increase than the 2.75" diameter pipes? or i could have been dreaming lol

I too have read that a 2.75" system offers optimum performance on the K03 & K04 turbocharged engines..

Saying that I've also read of exhaust cut outs and 3" decat's giving 30bhp gains over standard. I feel that performance wise on this engine the exhaust is not too important The standard exhaust isn't really that restrictive at all.

It's more about sound. The 3inch pipes give a boomier lower noise, decat's give it an almost 'ripping noise', milltek and others a deeper tone.

End of the day companies making 3"pipes will say 2.75" is restrictive.
Companies making 2.75" pipes will say it is optimum as the 3" loses needed back pressure.

The only problem you have there Mike is that the Milltek downpipe is only 3" for about half of its length. It gradually reduces down to 2.75" where it meets the cat back. If your going for a custom system though it prob wont be a problem as they can just start the new system further back. The downpipe comes in 2 halves so its probably 3" till just after the cat.

Did you keep your original system Mike?
There is a 3" turbo back system for sale in the classifieds for £500. Looks like they need an original system in part exchange tho

So the cat reduces the diameter? Could Decat. Had no issues at all with my miltek but was advised at some point decat would give me warning lights?
