Had a problem with my boost pipe leaking since i got it, been back in numerous times but it keeps doing it , so booked it in today for a proper look...turns out it needs a new intercooler and boost pipe, get this..they wont replace it under warranty..even though the cars under 12 months seat warranty (seat approved used car) and they want £400 off me !

Whats the reasoning behind them not wanting to replace it?

All they said was its not covered under the warranty plan i was given ? I wasnt aware there was different types of warranty ( i got it from letchworth SEAT....oh the problems i had).

Seat preston said they always give the better warranty, and not sure why letchworth havent, and letchworth are avoiding our calls, and hes been with a customer for nearly 4 hours ?.....

All i was told when i bought the car after much hassle was it has 12 months seat warranty...

Dont get me started on him, he put my mrs in tears when we originally got the car, so arrogant and rude to her it was unreal... laughed at her down the phone and hung up on her, basically they sold us a 110bhp model saying it was 130bhp, so wasted a weekend driving, then i had to take it back to get it swapped for this silver one..i didnt want but didnt have a choice really. Im avoiding travelling 4hours to letchworth again strictly on the fact that if hes there, il get myself into trouble.

No we are dealing with kelvin ? complete cnut if you ask me, avoiding phone calls, saying hes rung our dealer etc, all lies and bullshit, IF they dont respond then il be onto trading standards as they have fecked me about from the offset.

Top and bottom of it is, im a student, cant afford to spend £400 on the car, just managing to scrape by at the moment.

Ring Seat UK and complain mate I'm sure they would be very interested to know all this......they'll soon sort it out when the big boys get involved.

Was it in writing or just a phone call? you need to put these things in writing.

If you put it in writing I'm very surprised they did nothing.

How old is your car? Is this an extended warranty

Having worked in the dealer network (Mercedes, Porsche, SAAB) with the exception of factory warranties, all others aren't worth the paper the written on! Their riddled with clauses etc, much like your insurance! Cause basically that's what a used / extended warranty is an insurance policy!

Basically by the sounds of things you've been stitched up by a used car sales man!!

I would go direct to SEAT UK. Write to them as suggested, stating all the details of people you've dealt with and the problems your having, I'm sure they will do something about it.

Failing go to trading standards, that'll soon sort them out! In fact i'd go to them now and get some advise?

Good luck and hope it gets sorted soon!

best advice would be to read your warranty to see if it will cover the parts and then go direct to trading standards as well as reporting them to SEAT UK. if you get no reply from SEAT, just keep on at them. My brother in law used to work for trading standards and the horror stories i heard about garages trying to get away with stuff makes you angry.

Some local garages have tried to pull a quick one when my wife has taken her car in for a quote for some work, i've then taken the same car to the same garage and got a completely different cost. They try to intimidate you if you sound like you don't know much. Some places have reduced my wife to tears, its really annoying how the smug little :censored: think they can get away with it.

The best dealer i've dealt with was a local beemer dealer, even though i didn't have a warranty on a 6 year old 525 sport, 2 months after i bought it, the thermostat went, and they came out to my work, picked up the car, fixed it FOC and returned it to me, cleaned and polished. There's customer service.

Ok guys, well ive had to get the car back from my local dealers as i need it, just hope the boost pipe doesnt come off.

Seat letchworths response : Kelvin... " We arent willing to do anything, and the owner of the garage is abroad"

Seat UK's response, we arent willing to do anything, it lies with the dealer...

Looks like its trading standards, we havent had the car that long and for it to need a new intercooler and boost pipe already ? I dont even boot it everywhere so god knows.

The only people who help are my local Dealer, Hobin of preston, they have ordered me a new drivers window switch, and fixed my handbrake under warranty, also cleaned the outside and hoovered the inside...if that isnt service i just dont know what it, he tried to play hell with the warranty company as apparantly the turbo is covered...but the intercooler isnt, its a shame its out of their hands as they are a really nice bunch of people.

Just hope trading standards can make some progress.

Looking at the reciepts i got it says the following :

" Seat approved used car warranty expires 10 feb 2010 "

And on the next reciept :

"12 month tax, 12 month MOT, 12 month warranty"

So nothing in any of the documentation states that its only a "partial" warranty, nor is there a list of things it does/doesnt cover, as far as i was aware, and as far as this paper work is aware there is a full 12 month warranty on the car.

It won't state it's a "partial" warranty, because it's not - it's a full warranty with exclusions (and turbos, etc. are a common exclusion from used car warranties). As has been suggested, you need to get official warranty documentation and see exactly what is covered and what is excluded.

There's no point going to trading standards for help with no evidence. If you've bought a warranty without checking the conditions, like any contract, you won't have a leg to stand on if you're not happy with the terms at a later date. Just because you thought you would be covered doesn't mean you are.

We wernt given any documention regarding the warranty...just told you have a full 12 month warranty, either way my local seat dealer said the crack on the intercooler should of been noticed and wouldnt have occured during the time ive had the car.

Local seat are fully in my defense and have been stars ( Hobin of Preston ).
