why not tell them about this site and the posts. Explain you'll only post factual information but that others may decide not to touch them and the resultant loss in profits would far outweigh the cost of repair. I wouldn't use them now'

We wernt given any documention regarding the warranty...just told you have a full 12 month warranty, either way my local seat dealer said the crack on the intercooler should of been noticed and wouldnt have occured during the time ive had the car.

Local seat are fully in my defense and have been stars ( Hobin of Preston ).

Is it a SEAT warranty or an aftermarket one?

Its seat warranty...i just figured it would cover the obvious stuff...ie not wear and tear stuff. Its the reason i paid more and bought from a Seat Dealer as opposed to buying private. Its partly my fault..but they should still offer to rectify the problem..they are just being arseholes.

Unfortunately warranties are full of exclusions, even ones on new cars aren't as comprehensive as you think.

I know someone who bought a brand new Focus and the clutch went after less than a year. The Ford dealer said it was wear and tear and wouldn't pay uo.

My Mum had a Fiesta with a 3 year warranty. Battery went at 13 months old, turns out batteries only have a 12 month warranty, she wrote to Ford and they are given her the second years service for free as compensation.

I feel for you, but used car warranties are riddled with exclusions. You should have received a copy of the policy, if not I would ask for one still.

Hope trading standards come back with something, another route might be to report them for mis-selling a policy. I'm sure they need to give you the T&C's in writing.

As has been said earlier, a "full warranty" has many exclusions. You should demand the warranty documentation from the supplying dealer, and check for yourself instead of making assumptions. If the warranty is a SEAT warranty you might not even have to take the car back to the supplying dealer. You should also check that any inspection they should carry out before delivery, if it is supposed to cover the parts involved, was done. You might have more luck getting at them for not doing the checks properly, rather than the warranty.

"Local seat" can say what they like, but they're not the ones going to repair it, are they? If it's a SEAT warranty, have you checked that they can't do the repair if they're such stars? At least their opinion might help if, as above, you're suggesting the pre-sales checks weren't carried out correctly.

I was thinking that last night...theres a " So many point check " that a vehicle has to go through before it gets the approval to become a " Seat approved used car ", if the intercooler is one point on this list...then its pretty obvious it wasnt checked.
