I can't remember who made the
guide I read but that inspired me to refurb those scrappy door handles too. I originally masked off the mirror decals, but in my eagerness to remove the masking I ripped off all the paint that hadn't stuck yet and had to start over
Left a bit of a dodgy crease where I tried to sand the different layers of paint flat again, but thankfully it's not that noticeable.
I used wet & dry, several coats of halfrauds primer (4?) and plenty more coats of matt black (probably about 6 for durability) and they came out looking brand spanking new! I would definitely advise against lacquer, the results are much better with more matt paint instead. I'd link some photos but I'm a few posts shy yet
