Mat

nah, it'll just give them a "glossy" shine. would look more like gloss black than matt black IMO

Thanks for the pic, looks really good - hope mine turns out like that..

Getting all the rubber of is also really annoying me - i need rougher wet/dry paper, stuff i have is too fine to start it off the rubber striping.. Have done one long bit with primer (and will give it a few coats of black tonight...:)

the thought of de-rubbering the other 3 pieces is upsetting me!!may get the girlfriend on the job!:)

Turned out alright in the end really (although not perfect), just doing the other side which is going much better..:) Only have to spray the large bit black a few times, de-rubber a little of the smaller handle section, give it the primer/spray.. :)

Surely if you do 4 coats of primer and 4+ coats of paint you'll not be able to see the scratch??.. must be pretty deep!
it is there rite deep and im not happy with the way the paint matches up either i know you can tell eveyones there is a slight diffrence btween the shades of black and how many layers there is but im going to make mine perfect

Bet I can [B)]

i will get it done perfect don't worry

I can't remember who made the guide I read but that inspired me to refurb those scrappy door handles too. I originally masked off the mirror decals, but in my eagerness to remove the masking I ripped off all the paint that hadn't stuck yet and had to start over :( Left a bit of a dodgy crease where I tried to sand the different layers of paint flat again, but thankfully it's not that noticeable.

I used wet & dry, several coats of halfrauds primer (4?) and plenty more coats of matt black (probably about 6 for durability) and they came out looking brand spanking new! I would definitely advise against lacquer, the results are much better with more matt paint instead. I'd link some photos but I'm a few posts shy yet :D
