Hi was just wondering if anybody had a custom exhaust. Been looking for a while but everybody either has a milltek or a blue flame. Done a search for custom exhaust but couldn't find anything. Pro's of having custom exhaust are- wide variety of tailpipes, get to choose how i want it to sound and since its stainless steel comes with a life time warranty. Don't know of any cons so if anybody has any suggestions it would be much appreciated.

Yeah theres a few in glasgow and just outside glasgow. I was thinking about rms in prestwick, checked thier website and seemed quite impressive. Also it seems to be cheaper, the aftermarket ones are about 300-400 and the custom is 220 for a cat back.

Rab, I got my custom exhaust made/fitted down at Elite Custom Exhausts in Ayr. The guys were brand new and done a good job. I went for the 6x4 oval tailpiece and told them I didn't want it too loud and that's what I got. I'd recommend them ;)

dont go for custom, more hassle than its worth just get a miltek or blueflame, tryed and tested, fit perfectly with no problems, proved performance gains and good built quality. the custom jobby will probably end up knocking everywhere on the chassis, fitting poorly. and probably no cheaper

Agree with the above, custom is more hastle than it's worth in most cases.

mate i STRONGLY advise you to stay away from RMS they are a crock of ****, they used to be good but the good staff left and formed other companies i "think" C+C or Elite were started by some of his old staff

you heard of meetcat? http://www.meercat-exhausts.com dearer but very well made stuff

Cheers Rab,

Cat back and i'm sure it cost £280.

Ive also heard bad things about RMS. C+C get a good name, they were more expensive though...

people always told me that RMS exhausts are shite and say go to meercat exhausts... but i hav had no problem with my RMS high flow cat, and it turned out that the meercat downpipe ended up with a hole because of a support bar thing ripping off

edit:
got it fixed now.good after sale service from meercats :)

i just gonna ask you where you got your cat and stuff done but now i know :D do you mind me asking how much it cost you?

the reason i said RMS are shite is cos i had two alloys refurbed and the lazy ****** never even removed the center caps, he just painted over them. the annoying thing was i had told him if he was good i'd come back with another set of wheels for refurb and powder coating and bring my brothers silvia for a turbo back

i then took my st in for a decat which they made far too short and put the rest of the system under undue strain

Found a garage near to where i live who have recently got (within the last year or so) all the machinery/pipe bending equipment to make exhaust systems up etc..

He quoted my 250 for a cat back system which is cheaper than the miltec and scorpion systems so am seriously considering it.

He told me he did a cupra the other day and the customer was well happy with it :)

They do a variety of back boxs in with different tips, including the oval style i am after which all the miltec/ scoprion systems have.

Am thinking of having a straight through system with no centre silencer, just a back box and at a later date getting a decat pipe aswell.

What are your thoughts?

Anything i need to be concerned about if i decide to go ahead? Is there a certain amount of back pressure needed or can i go balls out and get a really noisy system?!

Thanks.
