Buying a Seat Ibiza 2005 1.4 Spots

Hi all this is my first post, love some of the pics of your Seats

As the title suggest we are looking at buying a 2005 Ibiza 1.4 sport 75.

We took it for a test drive it drives quite nice, the one question I have is it seemed a bit clunky/hard when going over bumps would this be a fault with the springs/shocks or is this normal for the Ibiza sports. Does it have hard suspension or should we have the suspension looked at.

Can you get the 1.4 75BHP engine in the sport trim? I thought they were all 1.4 100bhp?

Ibizas are known for having hard suspension, its more of a sporty set up than the softer sprung polo. Although it shouldnt be too hard. My Arosa went very hard at one point, it needed two new rear shockers, which made it a bit softer, but its still fairly hard.

Hiya thanks for the reply, I was sort of hoping it was due to hard suspension.

it says 1.4 75 bhp sports. Its a 5dr hatch, sorry I can't post a link cos I don't have 15 posts up yet. but its the Silver one on here www . sartinsgarage .co .uk

I believe that the 1.4 100BHP sport came out 2007/08. Before that it was a 75BHP sport. Seat did special etd before like the 1.4 DAB 100BHP and the Formula Sport.

Not sure if that helps. I have a Formula Sport and the suspension isnt to stiff, but I would recommend a bigger engine or a diesel of you want a bit of power.

There have been three different power outputs for the 1.4 - 75, 85 & 100bhp.

As far as I remember, there are a few very early versions with 100bhp, then it dropped to 75bhp, then in about 2006 this was increased to 85bhp and then towards the end of production the 100bhp version was re-introduced.

2005 model will definitely be 75bhp

Thanks guys, na the wife said she is happy with the speed of the car, a bit slow for me I driver a 1.9 TDI VW, we just thought the hardness of the suspension may have been a problem.

Pah! I hate it when muppets put weights on the outside of alloys and so they are visible instead of sticking them inside and out of sight! Nice looking Ibiza by the way.

We call ours Thumper - that is because of the suspension of course

indeed on the firm ride, stiff shocks and soft springs because of the alloy block i recon coupled with low profile 16 inch alloy (normal are 15 but then again the FR and Cupra have 17) setup makes the ride bumpy but nice on the corners. This is a bit of a topic, but i think a strut brace did improve how my car when over bumps...
