My stereo doesn't have a scan button, just the 2 to scan tracks but they don't do anything. Any other ideas?

Hi guys im looking at getting the Alpine Alpine iDA-X100 for my 2005 Leon FR150 TDi. I am just trying to find out if the standard 6 disc changer in my glovebox (which i belive is alpine too) will plug straight into the back of the head unit? I will probably use my iPod most of the time, but i would like the option of using cd's aswell.
Someone has probably already answered this, but i couldnt find it, so apologies if they have.

Does the leon have a fail safe shut off type system to protect the speakers? Occasionally if I turn the volume up really loud all speaker sound suddenly stops, but the HU is still on and the sub woofer still humming in the boot. After an arbitrary length of time the sound returns. I can't work out what's going on...?
I only have an amp for the sub...and this doesn't go off when the speakers do (speakers are standard).
I may be wrong but i dont think there is anything in between the HU and the speakers. It is just cabling. All speakers, (from cars to massive gig rigs) have a tolerance level. You may well just be hitting this, but it would have to be really loud i should imagine.
It was pretty loud but nowhere near unbearable. I spose it could be a feature of my HU (Alpine ida X100) but I can't see any settings that might control it. I'll have to sit down and go through the manual again I think.
Anyone got any other ideas?

I originally thought you were using the standard stereo, but yes, i had the gains to high on my amp, with a pioneer and mine did the same, does it come back on itself after a while too?
Yeah it comes back on randomly by itself. What do I need to do to stop it then...i.e how do I turn down the gains?

The only external amp (out of the head unit) I have is for the sub powered directly from the battery, that I only put in yesterday. Before that I had the alpine HU with everything else stock...and before that was the aura HU and everything else stock.
In all setups it has cut out only the standard speakers if I put the volume too high. And the sound randomly returns with a speaker pop whenever it decides.

I'd have thought you could have turned it up what you like, not sure of any fail-safes, as I'm yet to find them if so.
