Hi

I'm looking at getting a stage 1 remap for my cupra within the next few months - probably the bluefin.

When I have the remap, do I have to run a higher octane fuel, or will it cope with the 95 RON still?

It should 'cope' but I'm sure you won't be getting the best out of your car using crappy fuel. In theory the higher octane fuel should pay for itself through greater mpg.

I use vpower in mine all the time and it's not even remapped.

As above

Yup as above, best to use higer ron fuel, I believe VAG engines are deisgned to run on 97 Ron up. Also many tests have shown that the better fuel such as Vpower gives a lot better performance on the 2.0tfsi engine. Also economy wise it should pay for itself.

If you have a rempa such as revo, they will ask you what fuel you put in. I suppose you cpould get a map specific to 95 ron but best go for 97...you can always buy the optional sps device and alter it at your own will.

Your not doing your Cupra any favours using 95ron. You should be running it on 97 or above all the time regardless of whether its remapped.

Like most modern engines, the 2.0TFSI adapts to the fuel it is using.

If you look in your filler cap (certainly in mine!) it has 89 in big letters, and 95 in small letters, recommending you use 98RON over 95RON. By no means you will doa ny damage to the engine, but whatever fuel you use, the adaptation of the ECU with adjust a degree of timing to the appropriate level, pulling back when using a lower octane fuel.

so for best performance, octane numbers are king. Many people will say super fuels are a waste of time, but certainly in this engine, it is not the case.

Regarding remaps, you may see more of a benefit using the highest octane. Certainly with Revo maps and APR maps, you can adjust the map the car is currently using, to a 95RON or 98RON version. This advances the iginition timing to take advantage of the higher octane levels where there will be less chance of knock or timing pull present.
