do I need a T.I.P.??

going back to basics
just noticed recently that when accelerating the car seems to be holding back a bit, i've got no warning lights or anything and it only seems to happen at full boost when accelerating hard apart from that the cars all fine and dandy, could this be the t.i.p. collapsing (or any other hose for that matter) if so can anyone recommend one and where from? thank you very muchly:D

have a good grope of the t.i.p, thats a way to find out,if it compresses easily, its either already collapsed,or on its way out...then id say get a new t.i.p!

yeah, they wouldnt call it the turbo intake pipe if it didnt connect to the turbo would they?lol

but in seriousness, yeah its the long black tube that looks like a lung on the right hand side of the manifold, towards the back.cant miss it,its a big pipe.

pretty easy to fit a silicon one,i done it myself (i.e. got a mate to do it for me :D)
unclip the old one,fit new one, clip it up.there are proper guides around, just hav a search for them.

good luck!

iv gave mine a good grope and when i squeezed it my fingers met in the middle. does this mean i have a split or is that just how soft they are. looking at getting a tip anyway. looking for a red one if anyone can put me in the right direction. looked on ebay and cant seem to find any

several things that can cause this I have found

when was your DV last serviced? this could be sticking, causing a hesitation in acceleration

when was the filter last serviced (I doubt it would cause this issue, but it would help to give it a clean)

the crappy standard inlet hose onto the inlet manifold, is very capable of collapsing (soft mushy hose and is quite restrictive too). I too had this issue, and replaced the whole setup with a set of custom hoses, and this stopped the hesitation immediately

The same could apply to the TIP as well, again as this is prone to collapsing

how many miles has the car done?

here are some pics of the custom hoses I made up to replace the inlet manifold pipe

standard hose and uprated hose comparison

right here goes!
the DV is a 007p, it was on the car when i bought it around 3 month ago but about a week ago i took it off as i was going to fit it backwards and there was like a reddy/pinky grease type stuff inside and the piston moves freely and it 'dumps' normaly.

Air filter was again on car when i bought it and is a Green Dynatwist, this was taken off and cleaned about 1 month ago.

the car has done a heart failiure inducing 139,000 miles but has full Seat service history and is in tip top condition.

i was presuming it was the t.i.p. as the car boosts properly then seems restricted but then let off and re-apply accelerator and it boosts properly again and then feels restricted again but it only does it under full acceleration, could it also be the inlet manifold hose??

mileage is fine, but it is just at a point now where if it is still running any standard pipes, then they will be very prone to failure. My inlet manifold hose was bad enough with 85k on the clock, so I would not like to imagine in what state yours is with an extra 50k on the clock

changing the inlet hosing is the cheaper option first, and even if it does not solve the issue, you have replaced the standard restrictive piping :)

sounds as is it could be n75 related; fluctuating boost problems do point toward this ..

jamie which pipes did you use for your inlet manifold?

I used 2 x 63mm 45 Degree Forge silicon hoses (bit of cutting required to bring it down to size)

do you run a standard SMIC or an FMIC? I ask this as it may depend on the piping required
