no its an 04, the changer isnt in the glove box or the boot but i havent checked under the seats yet
maybe the previous owner removed it and sold it? who knows and who cares its only extra weight anyway lmao

Does it definitely not work? Most of the compatibility issues with the iphone 3G and the 2nd gen touch are related to the charging because they use the firewire charging pins in the dock connector which arent used in the 3G or 2nd gen touch, this is quite easy to get around though.

Personally I wouldnt bother with a stock ipod kit though as theres no way of navigating your songs due to no track info, in that case its better to get an aux input and then control the music on the ipod itself

ways around? do tell?

Hi all,had my cupra about a month but it has an aftermarket JVC radio that is really irritating not least cos it won't work with the cd changer (i hate faffing with disks).

Which radio should be in it? Its a Y reg leon 20VT cupra. Then I can get searchin on the bay for one unless anyone has one they wish to flog.

Cheers
John

I think theres one going in the for sale section.

Hi,

I had the same problem when my stock Aura unit went on the fritz & I didn't know what to change it for. Didn't want something that looked out of place & stuck out like a sore thumb. I bought a Pioneer DEH-5000UB, £160-170 RRP but I got mine from Car Audio Centre for about £105.

Main reason was the customizable colour display (choice of 10 colours & you can control the brightness aswell!!) so I could have it red the same as the rest of my dash lights. CD player works well but I've run a usb extension from the back down into the ashtray & just plug in a 4gig memory stick. Easy to plug in or out & no unsightly wires etc. Got a dozen or so albums on there, not even half full & you wouldn't know the difference between that & a CD. No expense of an ipod or storage for CD's & cases needed.

:funk:

I am too in this position at the moment with the decision on which HU to get to replace the standard unit. I have looked at the Alpine IDA series and they do look nice but not sure if i would miss the CD's. Also is it easy to get the cable from the back of the HU to somewhere that i can connect the IPhone 3G - either the glovebox or the Ashtray??

tis a shame. Especially as I have two auras (don't ask), one of which I don't have the code for. One currently in the car has a dodgy volume knob that flits all over the place when you turn it, and am fed up of not being able to see the screen if I use the cup holder!

What else do I need if I was to change the HU to an aftermarket one, other than the facia bits round the sides?

The standard radio as the relevant connector for the ISO loom you get with the new radio.
You may have to swap the red and yellow over, so it retains pre-sets.
