Changing panel filter

Hi guys,

I was thinking of changing the air filter. I have a couple of questions. Which filter should i get? and is it easy to change?

very easy 2x screws

think you will get a million different makes shot at you here but from what i gather the green cotton ones are what everyone is going for aswell as smoothing the airbox.

It also help's if you undo the jubile clip on the top of the T.I.P

i've done a bit of research and will be getting green cotton filter tomorrow. one of the most significant thing i've found when looking around is that theyre least likely to cause MAF problems

good choice... my only advice is buy it front someone like badger5(bill) or a scn sponsor, I got mine directly from Green and it took three weeks to arrive.

I started out with a K&N and ended up changing the maf twice. I now use a pipercross and have had no trouble with it

Great, after just reading wisejasons reply I wish I had the benefit of hindsight.

Ive ordered a filter direct from green.

Fingers crossed it doesnt take 3 weeks to arrive.

I did order the Vrs panel filter which is in the clearance section and saved me 5 quid for the same filter.

Stop the clock.

My filter arrived on Saturday, a whole 3 days after ordering and that was direct from green.

Had to laugh though, I had an email today telling me my filter had been dispatched.....erm thanks for that i've already fitted it.

if i was ordering one id set my sights 3 weeks later then be extra happy when it showed up early.. half the time when you need it there and then it takes months.

I ordered mine on Wednesday and it arrived yesterday. So it wasnt too bad but i could have done with it before the weekend as the car went for a service so they could have put the new filter in instead of charging me for the standard one.

Healyrae the same happened to me. I was checking my emails saw it had been dispatched and the postman come with the filter.

OK, I'm probably being dumb - but how the foock do you open a LCR's airbox to change the filter??!!

I've undone the 2 screws & it won't budge - do I need to disconnect anything else? (Don't like the look of those scary 'big pipes'.)

lol. its easier if you disconnect it from the 'big scary black pipe' D) but you can just carefully wiggle it out of the two teeth that it slots into towards the battery side of the box and flex it up. Be ver careful though cause you dont want to go killing your maf!! I usually disconnect the two little screws that hold the box to the pipe with a small screw driver.

Assume that to disconnect the "big scary black pipe" requires loosening the Jubilee clip?

Indeed, I certainly don't "want to go killing the MAF" - that's what's scary! MAF has recently been replaced, after a period of crap mpg. (But now my LCR does 40mpg at a 60mph cruise & approx 35mpg at motorway pace.)
