i was thinking about power modds for the 1.8 16v gti its the (1871cc or sumert like that)

i was thinking about the idea of running carbs on it and before people say SEARCH i did and all i realy found was a guy with a 1.4 thinking of doing it and everyone saying buy a gti or moaning about insurance premiums (i have my current mods declared so this doesnt really bother me)

and before people just say buy a cupra im 20 atm i dont see the point of moving to a slightly higher spec car now im gunna wait till im 25 then make a BIG jump to something alot faster but want more from it in the mean time

I was looking for ideas is it likely to make a huge difference? and is it worth it for the cost?
also other power modifications and ideas? as im selling my mk4 soon so will have bout 2k to play with:happy:

1.8T MK2 Conversion
a mate of mines putting carbs on an ABF,
his shopping list so far,

Bike carbs
inlet manifold
hoses to join carbs to manifold
KR - Ignition driver (or something like that)

And is aiming for around 180bhp

Since yours is a 1.8 not sure what youll be ooking at power wise... but that list cost around 300 pounds or so...
ABF is just a 2L

For a 1.8 best bang for buck is probably whack in a 2.0 bottom end and go to Stealth for a 'tune up'. Bike carbs are cheap enough to buy but when you cost the whole project up then it's not really that economical. Same is true for bike throttle bodies. I started collecting bits for a bike TB conversion ages ago but like all the best ideas they are hard to see though.

i ran my mk3 polo gt on bike carbs! Believe it or not but the fuel economy was actually matched or there abouts by the carbs to the standard mpi!

Good mod, sound fantastic, mine cost me about £90 all in. but what a fanny on to maintain!!

Injection ftw <-- HA
