SFS Alloy Piping - sent of today with murray clips yay! :D

I also order some dielectric grease to treat the MAF conector - apprently there is some positive and preventative gains to be had from it.

Finally this Saturday I am detailing an Camaro SS which should be a nice change form the norm. Full report of the detail will follow on Sunday.

I can see it now, a very confused Maz looking at pipes on the floor then staring in the engine bay...
thinking to himself "Now which one goes where, i was never good at this" lol

That's why TotalVAG will be fitting mine - we're also looking at mounting the map sensor into one of the hard pipes too as well as removing some of the silicon bends by making longer hard pipe sections ..... more to come on Monday evening :)

Hopefully if i get the company I'm talking to into doing it, i should have one continous pipe run... only silicon ends to clamp onto the OE parts.

But thats way into after summer, the cost and time to build it seems to be the biggest concern for the company!

So be good to see what Maz and you pat, get with the silicon bends and straight alloy pipes... i think the sound will be slighty different between them, one all hard pipe, to hard pipe and soft bends.
I think the hard pipes are easier on mine as the engine is so pinned down with the mounts, bushes and stiffening, not much if any movement to cause concern on having a complete hard pipe system.

The only real movement to watch out for is at the IC outlet to the hard pipe - that's the only silicon section really needed. No need to have it anywhere else, the only real issue is fabricating something out of one piece with all the twists and turns required.

If we can design a full hard pipe from EGR to IC outlet then that's what we'll do. We're also well on the way to getting the pancake replacement sorted, it's just a case of making a bracket up and making two different IC inlet pipes - one for the PD130 and one for the PD150 but we can use the same turbo to pancake pipe for both and the same alloy pancake replacement too.

Im very interested in the pancake replacement pipe, as i need to ditch the silly plastic pipe and hopefully get a few gains in hp :) Also is the replacement pancake pipe going to be round?? Have you got any pic of the pipe yet from SFS Pat?. Also on the 150 with a full alloy pipe in one piece will you be able to manouvre it down through the engine to the intercooler with all the bends etc?

Thats the reason the company I'm talking to is got the problem, do they fix it on the engine, or remove the engine/crashbar, body panels to do it, hence arguements on price have happened, problem is, only way they know is to do it, and it seems i have to bite the bullet and hope its not going to be the most expensive cost and somewhere in the middle

I still think short thick silicon bends are the way to go with all of the long straight in alloy / steel ..... saves all the messing about and potential costs / fitting issues.

The alloy pipe could be in 3 pieces like the sfs, but join them on the straights with a silicone joiner and make sure the two alloy pipes are mated up, basically touching each other in the silicone??

This is true Pat/Brad, hopefully, they will be able to play twister with the piping and get the thing in one go, but they have said they could join, too end in the middle with a very strong air tight join they can do, which is releasable if neccessary in maintence reasons.
They are doing my downpipe to exist system too, dual exit finally... and was trying to find out if they could do the exhaust manifold to the turbo, hence i was asking you those questions the other week Pat about the design of the manifold to the turbo.

Pat, any more news on the pancake replacement pipe? Is it going to be fully round? Got any taster pics yet :D

No - it won't be fully round, it will be similar to the current shape just a bit taller and a bit wider and without the stupid OEM clips that snap and fall apart!

How comes it wont be round mate?? surely they can make it round for slightly better airflow

that will be better if its less restrictive :) is it going to be made out of silicone or metal?
